History of English: This is interesting to those who like history, memorization, are familiar with Western history. This is less interesting to those who are bad at memorizing and are not familiar with Western culture or hisotry
Applied Linguistics: Very broad and interesting area. But it really depends on the teacher, I think.
New grammars: This is not practical and I dont know why it is required. On the other hand, it is interesting to analyze grammar from different perspectives.
Prof N.
I attended his class. He talked a lot! It was just his first lecture of 14 or 15 classes! It contained tons of information! It was too cognitively demanding for me to keep track of what he was talking about, and jog down what he was teaching. But it was really fascinating!
Dr. K
I attended her lecture just for open hour yesterday. She's Japanese unlike Prof N, but she also talked a lot! Of course what she talked, Bulingualism is intriguing for me, but she herself can be a role model. She is Japanese but speaks really fluent English. Though what she has done is much much beyond mine academically and professionally, but as a teacher, she is one of what i would like to be.
