Assistant / Associate Professor - Neuroscientist, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Neural Circuits and Synaptic Mechanisms underlying Homeostatic and Reward-Based Regulation of Food Intake and Related Behaviors.
The Division of Endocrinology and Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School (HMS), is searching for a Neuroscientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor Level. Candidates must have a PhD (or MD/PhD) Degree, and will have completed Post-Doctoral training in Neuroscience. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: 1) analysis of circuitry in the mouse brain using modern optical, electrophysiological and genetic tools, 2) manipulation of neuronal activity, in vivo, of specific subsets of neurons using optical and/or genetic/pharmacologic approaches, 3) assessment of gene expression within defined sets of neurons, 4) state-of-the-art systems-neuroscience approaches for circuit mapping in mice, or 5) advanced viral vector technology for circuit mapping, manipulation of gene expression and/or for altering neuronal activity. Optimal candidates will develop a research program that 1) leverages increasingly available genetically engineered mice and 2) that complements and interacts with others in the Division of Endocrinology, the adjacent Department of Neurology and/or the broader Neuroscience Community at HMS. Finally, the recruit, if qualified (which is anticipated), will join and participate in the Program in Neuroscience at HMS (http://www.hms.harvard.edu/dms/neuroscience/prospective/AboutPIN.html).
