Green Line, D Branch Construction Transportation Update
Overview The MBTA will be upgrading tracks and other infrastructure on the Green Line, Highland/Riverside D Branch during the summer of 2007 in order to improve service. The project also includes station improvements at Brookline Village and Longwood (D Line) Stations to conform with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All of these improvements will result in faster, more reliable service for LMA commuters using the Green Line D Branch.
No train service will run during the construction period, as follows: Riverside to Reservoir Stations (Phase 1) – approximately 6 weeks Reservoir to Fenway (Phase 2) – approximately 4 weeks Bus replacement service will be in place when trains are not in operation (see below). The MBTA will provide additional details the week of May 28, 2007
Preliminary Schedule Phase 1 work is expected to begin the last week of June (6/23/07 estimated) and continue through the beginning of August. Phase 2 will begin following Phase 1 completion and continue through the month of August. Full trolley service is expected to be restored the beginning of September, following Labor Day weekend.
Replacement Service Bus service will replace trolley service when the track is closed. The replacement shuttle buses will charge a Bus fare (rather than subway fare for D Line). A transfer from the bus to trolley/subway will require the full subway fare to be paid at time of boarding if a passenger only has a monthly Bus Pass. A monthly Link Pass allows a free transfer, and stored value on a Charlie Card or Ticket allows a reduced fare for the transfer.
Details to follow with MBTA public outreach: Schedule of bus replacement service, including frequency of service and total travel time
Additional service will be provided on the C Line to supplement service between Reservoir/Cleveland Circle and Kenmore Station.
Special operating plans will be in effect for the following: · Red Sox home games · July 4th special events
