HUGUES GILLET ユーグ・ジレ
Was born in France in 1968, and since 1992 he devoted himself to his painting, pursuing his striking work with dedication and inspiration.
Throught his painting , Hugues Gillet has endeavoured to give a material,objectivited and externalized form to his personal world. Half-animal, half-vegetable representations dwell in luxuriant landscapes or on smooth horizons in hues of scorched earth,like nightmares revealed on canvas.
Then, he couples impassive, hieratic human forms with vegetable and mineral kingdoms to give form to terrible visions, to revisit ancient myths and legends or to bear witness to the contemporary world and current events.
No matter how disturbing these hybridizations may appear they are familiar, as they stem from a long tradition of representing the surreal and the supernatural. From painting to painting they reveal the various stages of the artist's metaphysical quest and his distinctive poetry.
In a classic and figurative vein , Hugues Gillet, constant and perfectionist, offers whoever may wish to see, a Possible World.
Hugues Gillet a entrepris, à travers sa peinture, de donner une forme matèrielle, objectivée, exteriorisée à son univers personnel. Des figurations mi-végétales, mi-animales peuplent des paysages luxuriants ou des horizons sans heurts aux couleurs de terre brulée, comme autant de cauchemars révélés sur la toile.
Puis il accouple des formes humaines, visages impassibles, hiératiques, aux autres régnes végétal et minéral, pour donner forme à de nouvelles visions terribles, pour revisiter légendes et mythes antiques ou pour se faire témoin du monde contemporain.
Ces hybridations,pour inquiétantes qu'elles puissent nous paraître,nous sont familiéres,issues d'une longue tradition artistique de représentation du suréel et du surnaturel,et tissent,au fil des tableaux,les étapes de la quête métaphysique de l'artiste et sa poésie particuliére.
Sous une facture classique et figurative, Hugues Gillet artiste perfectionniste,offre pour qui veut bien voir, un mondes possible.

人は永久に、生の奇妙さに直面する。人は己の生誕と人生を予め選択し得ない。 本質的に人生は、気紛れで、多様だ。 人が生死に関して訊ねるなら、全く答えが見出せない。そのように人はその存在の本質と生そのものに分断された存在である。芸術は、そうした疑問を整理するコミュニケーションの方法として、選ばれる表現手段の一つである。 芸術作品は知覚と情緒を総体として作用させ、それを組織化し大きく育てる。そこでの充足と不満、弛緩が果てしなく我々を可能性の限界に後退させようとし、死を巡る無限性と有限性への疑問に我々を結びつける。芸術家の中には、しばしばそうした可能性の限界に立ち向い、その境界である死の問題に私たちに接続し、確実性よりも充足不可能な道を突き進む人々がいる。
