Hello. My name is Yoshihiro Kanemitsu, a junior at the University of Tokyo(currently studying abroad).I am also an American Executive Committee member for the 61st Japan-America Student Conference (JASC). Together with another AEC Kayoko Hirata, we are the Boston coordinators for the first "JASC Presents."
Since its inception in 1934, JASC(日米学生会議) has provided opportunities for Japanese and American students to exchange their cultures and engage in academic conversations. The Conference remains student-run even today, and its tradition of student leadership is reflected in its alumni, including former U.S. Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger and former Japanese Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa. The Japan-America Student Conference is an annual student-run international conference. This year, in the 61st JASC, 36 American and 36 Japanese university students will travel through Japan for a month from July 24th to August 21st.
JASC Presents (JP) is a series of panel discussion designed to extend the academic discussions and cultural exchange initiatives of JASC to university campuses and local communities in Japan and the U.S. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I would like to ask you to cover JASC Presents in Boston, which is the first JP event held in the U.S. (So far, we had two in Hiroshima on Dec 23rd and in Kyoto on Jan 9th) The theme is "Internationalism in a New Age: Reflecting on 150 Years of Japan-U.S. Relations."
