CELSO MACHADO
セルソ マシャード（1953- ブラジル）
セルソ・マシャドは、１９５３年、ブラジルのサンパウロに程近いRibeirao Pretoと言うところに音楽一家の息子として生まれた。ブラジルのポピュラー音楽に深い興味を持ち、クラシックギター、フラメンコギターの知識を生かして作曲を始めた。彼の作品には、ブラジル独特のリズムやハーモニーが生きている。彼はまた、ブラジル音楽の大胆なパーカッションの利用法から、斬新なギターの音色を引き出している。
彼は、ソリストとしての活動もめざましいものがある。１９８０年代にかけてはヨーロッパツアーを行い、現在は彼の二重奏のパートナーThierry Rougierとともに活動し、コンサート活動、さらにはBordeaux?音楽大学で講師を務めている。Celso Machado、Therry Rougierの二重奏CD "Imagens do Nordesete"も発表した。1992年、彼はカナダのバンクーバーに家を購入した。

In 2008 Jogo da Vida won a Radio Canada Galaxie Award and a Canadian Folk Music Award for World Solo Artist of the Year. It was also nominated for a JUNO Award and a Western Canadian Music Award.
