私の医者いわく、San Francisco Bay Area のお水は安全と聞いた事があります。私も同じように迷い、以前は5年位はWaterCoolerでArrowheadWaterのSpring Waterのデリバリーを頼んで、その水を家のクーラーに入れて使っておりました。WaterCoolerは2〜3ヶ月に一回は熱湯で煮沸をして洗わなければなりません。そうでないと白いかたまりのようなカスが浮かんできます。また、デリバリーで水を頼んでいるにも関わらずに、2回位はデリバリーされてきた水の中に鳥の糞(ふん)のような物が入っていて驚きました。テレビのニュースで以前比較をやっていたのですが、一番安全なのは水道水にフィルター(PURとかが良いですよ)をつけて飲むのが一番衛生的で安全であるし手軽だと言っておりました。そして私自身も水の味のききわけ?ですか(日本語忘れました)をやってみて、?水道水 ?水道水にPURのフィルターをつけた水 ?SpringWater の3種類で比べたのですが、味的にも?のPURのフィルターを通した水が一番おいしかったです。長くなりましたが、結果からいうと私の個人の意見としては、味的にも衛生面でも手軽さおよび経済的な面の4つを含めても、PURのフィルターの水を使っております。また、BRITAの水で一回水のタンクのようなものにろ過して使うものは、手間隙も面倒がかかるでやめました。

City of Menlo Park sends us annual water quality report and it seems OK to me as long as the data is correct :-)
However, the city is responsible for only to each house. If your house or apartment still uses lead pipes, it could be pretty bad (particularly to infants).
In my personal opinion, if your apartment is new enough, you do not have to be worried too much.
My house is over 60 years old and no problem :-)
Just out of curiosity, if your house is over 60 years old, how do you know your water pipes have no problems? Have you tested your in-house water for lead?
If anyone is really concerned about in-house water quality, it would be a good idea to get a home water quality test kit and perform a test.
Yes. I used a testing swab. In addition, I use PUR simply because it explicitly states that it removes lead. Brita filters do not state if they can remove lead or not (as far as I know).
