A U.S. study of top-selling laundry products and air fresheners found the products gave off dozens of different chemicals. All of the products tested emitted at least one chemical regulated as hazardous under U-S federal laws. But none of the chemicals were listed on the product labels. University of Washington civil and environmental engineering professor Anne Steinemann says the compounds could trigger health issues ranging from breathing problems to neurological disorders. A trade group for the industry rejects the finding, arguing such products face tough U-S federal requirements which are designed to protect public health. Steinemann's study was published online yesterday by the journal Environmental Impact Assessment Review. She did not release the brand names of the six products she tested. -THE CANADIAN PRESS *7/25/2008の記事
