A person who was sixties and a male, went to the Philippines in this summer. In this country he was bitten on the hand by a dog. It was the end of August.
After that he came back to Japan. In the Philippines maybe he didn't receive vaccine of hydrophobia after the bite. An incubation period of hydrophobia is from one to three months.
Even now there is no effective medicine for hydrophobia. If a patient gets sick, a patient will die. The death rate of hydrophobia is 100%. And so if a person is bitten by a dog, immediately a person should receive vaccine of hydrophobia.
On November ninth he had symptoms like common cold, and he visited a hospital. On November 12th water and wind were unpleasant for him. Maybe the reason was abnormality of central nervous system. On November 13th he had illusion, and he entered a hospital. On November 14th he had artificial respiration, and maybe he died shortly after that. The period was about one week.
In 2004, 55,000 people died for hydrophobia in the world, and details were 31,000 in Asia and 24,000 in Africa. In Japan both human beings and dogs haven't occurred since 1957.
