The car has been in private collections including my personal private collection. Restored approximately 11 years ago it has some lacquer paint cracking on the driver's door top and some on the right front fender. The car still presents itself well and absolutely stuns the public when it is rarely displayed. This is a totally rust free Auburn Speedster.

The SS1 was first announced at the 1931 motor show. It was the first model to be manufactured by Swallow Coach Building Co. of Coventry (later to become Jaguar Cars) on their own proprietary chassis supplied by the Standard Motor Co. The car was only available as two door coupe with cycle style wings but there was a choice of either 16 HP (2054cc) or 20HP (2552cc) six cylinder side valve engines. After 502 cars were built a new model was announced at the 1932 motor show at Olympia.
This car was ordered at the motor how by Henlys of Manchester on October 8, 1932 and first registered on January 11, 1933 with the Cheshire County Council. .
This Fabulous example has had a long known history. In the 1950s it was purchased by a preacher from a Pennsylvania used car lot. At this time is understood that the car had approximately 70,000 miles. After several years of use the preacher parked the car until 1999. At that point it was purchased by a collector and was treated to a correct, no expenses spared, frame-off restoration. The restoration consisted of using the correct orginal type upholstery, and the original Putty Beige Chyrsler color.

This Reo is a real eye-catcher, whether it’s moving or standing still. It is an older restoration that is showing some wear, but is a very pretty body style and an enormously rare car. Notice the Coupe’s beautiful upwardly curved front bumper...the two chromed bullet headlamps ...the fine horizontal hood side vents...the gracefully skirted front fenders and the rear fenders with just a hint of Duesenberg, with the four vertical chrome strips. This car is a older amateur restoration, finished in a light gray/green color. The engine is a flathead six, combined with the Reo Self-Shifter transmission, which was the first automatic transmission. Inside, the front seat and the pocketed door trims are the original mohair, in very good condition.
Up for auction is a highly desired, first class reproduction of the 1931 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza. There are only a few of these roadsters in the world. The handful of authentic cars still in existence have been appraised at $1.2 to $1.5 million as the Monza won LeMans in 1931 and 1934 (thus its name, Monza).

This Italian racing legend is street legal and is powered by a speedy 1600CC single port motor with a 4 speed manual transmission on the floor. Engine was professionally tuned in mid January 2010. You will be pleased with its performance and reliability. Starts, idles and runs through gears perfectly. The vehicle has 5 brand new Firestone tires and flawless 19 inch white wire wheels. New battery, new exhaust, new brakes, new bearings and recent alignment. Head lights, tail light and interior gauge lights are all in working order. There are a few minor cosmetic blemishes in inconspicuous areas, but exterior is very nice overall. The leather hood straps, black leather exterior cockpit bra, Alfa Romeo emblems, trim, glass, chrome and side mirror are all in great shape. The black leather seats and black leather interior door panels are in great shape as well as is the black carpet and treated wooden dashboard.
Vehicle is titled as a 1931 Alfa Romeo. Title is free and clear and is in-hand. VIN plate on vehicle matches the VIN on title as seen in photos. This is a very fun and reliable car. Starts every time on the first turn of the key. Would be ideal for parades, car shows, driving around the countryside with the wife or visiting your local race track. This is a rare car to find in such well maintained and serviced condition. Car is turn-key, it needs nothing but a good vacuuming (car will be detailed before sale). The original owners manual and a set of two keys are included in sale.
