I know a lot of countries already have weight standards. And I saw a lot of under weight models and read some articles about models died from anorexia in other countries. But I don't feel Japanese models are really under weight and they look quite healthy. So I think Japanese government doesn't need a specific standards.
Does it really matter? If models are obsessed with their weight and slim down, how does that negatively impact society? I don't believe anorexia is as a big of a problem in Japan as it in the US.
Also, its not as simple as weight. What do you do about the shorter people? They would be unfairly be considered too skinny because of their weight? On the same note, what happens to midget models in such cases. lol.
but i wonder whether or not the government should come in to deal with the issue such as this because...i think they have a lot more things to worry about. foreign policy against North Korea, for instance.
what i see about the weight of super models, though, has a lot to do with the attitude of the media trying to create the certain image of the models and general public is manipulated by them.
if you go to check out this website<http://www.dove.us/>, you will see there are people who are trying to do something different.
the models that we see on Dove are not super skinny.
they say that they are targeting on "real women".
