INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES


Opening starting as of February 1st: One intern needed on a regular basis one day a week (Monday or Tuesday) for 3-6 months between 1:00 - 5:00pm. This person will be working directly with the Executive Director (Jill Berk Jiminez.) This internship position is unpaid, but he/she will have a chance to gain experience and learn all aspects of working within a non-profit, community art gallery. ______________________________________________________________________________
Opening starting as of April 1st: One intern needed on a regular basis one day a week (Thursday or Friday) for 3-6 months between 1:00 - 5:00pm. This person will be working directly with both the Program Assistant (Amber Stucke) and the Executive Director (Jill Berk Jiminez). This internship position is unpaid, but he/she will have a chance to gain experience and learn all aspects of working within a non-profit, community art gallery. ______________________________________________________________________________
Opening starting as of February 1st: One intern needed to redesign the BAC website. This internship position involves some experience in graphic design, and he/she must have their own web design program at home to work on the project. This position is unpaid, he/she will have a chance to gain experience and be apart of a thriving art organization. _______________________________________________________________________________
Opening starting as of February 1st: One intern needed for Preprator/ Installation for exhibition installation and de-installation. This position takes place every 6-8 weeks and involves a commitment of 1-2 days, between 9:00 - 5:00pm. The internship position is unpaid, but he/she will have a chance to gain experience and learn all aspects of preprator work within a non-profit, community art gallery. The next installations are: March 14-20, 2007 & April 18-21, 2007


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES


March 14-17, Installation of Youth Arts Festival 2007: The Berkeley Art Center is in need of 1-2 volunteers each day for helping to prepare the space and install the exhibition. We are looking for people to come all day between 9:00 - 5:00pm or half of the day between 1:00 - 5:00pm. _________________________________________________________________________________
Wednesday, March 21, YAF Reception : 2-3 volunteers are needed between 3:00 - 6:00pm to help with food and drinks, membership promotion, and greeting parents & children. _________________________________________________________________________________
Sunday, April 1, YAF Young Musicians Event: 1-2 volunteers are needed between 1:00 - 4:00pm to help with chair set-up and take-down, and also greeting parents and children at the door. __________________________________________________________________________________
Sunday, April 8, YAF Youth Concert Event: 1-2 volunteers are needed between 1:00 - 4:00pm to help with chair set-up and take-down, and also greeting parents and children at the door.

About Us

We provide a full range of media services including video editing, sound design, audio post production, DVD authoring, radio production and magnetic media preservation.
Our primary focus is on experimental, documentary and social issue work. Some of our recent clients and projects include Carolee Schneemann with Bill Brand (Kitch's Last Meal), Chris Marker with Lynne Sachs (Vive la Baleine), Judith Helfand and Dan Gold (Everything's Cool), Cynthia Wade (Freeheld), Bill Plympton (Hair High), Alan Berliner (Wide Awake), Aldo Tambellini, Jenny Perlin, James Nares, Helene Aylon, and FAIR (Counterspin)

Internship
We are searching for someone to assist in day to day operations including studio management, transfers, media preparation, database entry and other technical and organizational duties. This is an unpaid position but we are happy to provide college credit, if possible.

What We Offer
A creative, informal work environment that provides a unique learning experience. During your internship you will have the opportunity to learn: how to transfer audio and video, magnetic media preservation, including cleaning, and restoration, database management, principles of time code and editing, sound design, audio editing and mixing, and other skills useful in the post production field. We also encourage interns to sit in and observe sessions.

Who We’re Looking For
A reliable, responsible person who is interested in and knowledgeable about experimental film, video and related media.

Requirements
All applicants should be Macintosh computer literate and have a basic understanding of film and video systems. Applicants should be self directed, detail oriented and motivated. We offer an easy-going, supportive, instructive environment to learn and grow.
