シカゴのユニークな小さな鉄道の歴史の保護に捧ぐ。

このウェブサイトは、シカゴの都心部の道路の地下40フィート（※約12.2ｍ）に掘られたトンネル内に作られた、149の機関車と3000台以上の貨物車両が運用された、約60マイル（※約96.5km）・2フィートゲージの鉄道について書かれたものです。

Illinois Tunnel Company（後のChicago Tunnel Company）は、1906年に貨物トンネルを走る列車の運行を開始した。小さな車輪が四つ付いた電気機関車が、小さな貨物車両を、商店、オフィスビル、郵便局施設、倉庫、工場、そして鉄道の駅へと、引っ張って行った。その小さな車両は次のものを運んだ、荷物、商品、手紙、食料、石炭、燃えカス、そしてときには人間を！
