In this fun class you will learn how to make some of the very typical specialities served in English homes during the Christmas period.
This is also a unique opportunity to learn about an English Christmas and the history of the customs and traditions. Accordingly, you will be presented with a Christmas booklet, which has been specially written for the class.
During the class, you will learn and participate in the making of: 1. Mince Pies: traditional little pies made with crispy butter pastry with a sweet, spicy and fruity filling. 4. Chocolate rum truffles. These delicious chocolates make a perfect gift. 5. Bacon wrapped cocktail sausages – ideal for serving to guests with Christmas drinks. 6. Baked Alaska* * This is a really lovely and exciting alternative to Christmas Pudding and is very popular with adults and children alike. It is a sponge cake topped with lemon curd, raspberries, ice cream (!) and soft meringue. The surprise is that it is then baked in the oven!
Refreshments and a light lunch will be served and you will be given: 1. A “doggy bag” (goodies to take home!) 2. All the step-by-step recipes. 3. A specially prepared handout explaining the history of English Christmas customs and traditions.
