Yesterday, I went some university to help some class. I didn't do anything but just sitting on a seat and checked customers' names. There I could hear the lecture completely. It's fun.
I heard the story about vermins and crops in Okinawa there. Although Okinawa is the only area which belongs to subtropical region in Japan and they had been able to cultivate many crops there as you can imagine, because of these vermins had existed, they hadn't been able to ship many crops to other area of Japan. Now some of these vermins are extinct by scientist but some of them still exist. Okinawa is the only area where succeeded to make these vermins extinct in subtropical region (lecturer told so but I haven't make it sure yet), and it means they can only supply some crops without any heat treatment or smoke treatment.
As you know, Okinawa is one of the poorest prefectures in Japan. One of the the reason is the military base of America occupies the most beautiful area there. Maybe you imagine that Okinawa still has many hotels notwithstanding, but a lot of them don't belong to Okinawan company. If vermins, which still exist in okinawa were successfully extinct, not only they could ship fresh red Japanese potatoes to other area of Japan but also this study and skills can be shipped to other country.
Okinawa No.100 (Okinwa 100 GOU) is the name which was made in Okinwa and shipped to other area of Japan in postwar days.
I like sweet potatoes very much. I also like Murasakiimo in Okinawa. I sometimes eat Murasakiimo ice cream. Studying about sweet potatoes is good for us.
I like Murasakiimo, too. Do you know the ice cream company named Blue Seal? It's Okinawan ice cream company. Really tasty. I think I seem like sales person of Okinawa..my mom is Okinawan.
Recently they can ship most of the crops without any treatments, but just sweet potato I suppose. When I was a child, there was a sign board in Naha air port to ban travelers from bringing some crops with them. I hope they can ship sweet potatos without any concerns soon.
