I have just finished a children's book titled "Island of the
Blue Dolphins. The author's name is Scott O'Dell. It's a beautiful
story. I love it! I had a hard time to read last few chapters,
because my eyes were filled with tears. After reading the story,
I watched the same titled movie. I thought the book is much better
than the movie. I recommend this book as one of the best children's
books.

When I was a high school, my most favorite author was Yojiro Ishizaka.
My monthly allowance went to all his publish books. In other words,
I read all his books. My most favorite book among them was "Hi no Ataru
Sakamichi." The story is about a college student who becomes the tutor
for the daughter of the rich family. The daughter has two older brothers.
One of them is a doctor and seems to be a nice man. The other one is
an artist and seems to be a wild guy. Both of them are interested in
the tutor. Well. it is interesting to read about the tutor's gradual
involvement with the rich family members.
My most influential book was "Anne of Green Gables." Probably, I read it
when I was a middle school student. Then, I finished all books about
Anne's life story. Anne was a dreamer and liked to imagine. She was very
creative. She was a very determined person, too. She became an author and
a teacher. When I read the story for the first time, I thought "That's it!"
I was very happy that I found such an imaginative and beautiful story.
I still love Anne's story.
The Terminal Man written by Michael Crichton:
This book helped me when I was a high school teacher. The book was about
a man who suffered from seizures. Thus, he got surgery to fix his sickness.
His surgery was to place the electrodes in his brain. The story developed
interestingly and had a surprise ending.
One day, one of my students had a light seizure during my class. Later,
that day, an Assistant Principal called me to come to his office and asked
me about how I treated the student. I told him all ways that I had done
for the student. My A. Principal showed me his happy face and told me that
I had done correctly. Then, I told him about the Michael Crichton's book.
Of course, I had studied First Aid at university which was a required class
for the education degree. It was only a book knowledge, but Michael
Crichton's book gave me imagination and visualized images while reading it.
I was very lucky to have read the Terminal Man. I still keep the book.
Have you ever experienced that you could not stop reading a book, even
though you needed to go to bed?
I have experienced several times. Because the story was too interesting
to stop, I stayed up late at night.
When I started reading the book titled "Disclosure" written by Michael
Crichton, I was really excited about the story and did not want to stop
reading it after midnight. I only slept for a couple of hours and went
to work. After coming home from work, I again started reading the book.
I know I was very tired, but the story was unbelievably fun. Again, I
stayed up late and slept only for a few hours. The third day, I finished
reading a whole story of 496 pages, but I was late for my work. Probably,
it's a stupid experience. However, I have read almost all his books,
since I really liked Michael Crichton as the author.
“I would always rather be happy than dignified.”
― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

"Jane Eyre" is my favorite character. She is determined but she has
dignity. I love its book and also movies.
I can read plain English only.
So, I'm reading Aesop's Fables for beginners of English.

Lately, I bought Holy Bible.
I am interested in Western Culture.

In Japanese, my favorite book is 'JEAN-CHRISTOPHE'.
I have never read it in English.
I gave some English books for ESL students to my niece's children. They are
middle school and high school students. Actually, they seemed to be happier
than just receiving money gift. Those books are well-known stories
but they are classified into the readers levels. You can buy those at the bookstores
which include the foreign books sections.
