I just recieved information from the East Asian Studies Department at John Caroll University. They are hosting Dr. Ronald A Morse for a lecture and discussion of Japan's pop-culture industry.

This lecture is part of John Caroll's "Mitsui Distinguished Lectures" series. Lectures in the series in previous years have included topics such as "Baseball in Japan: Sport, Society, and Culture" (2004) and "Competition and Spirituality in Tokugawa Martial Arts" (2001).

Dr. Morse, president and CEO of Japan Entertainment & Gaming Associates in Las Vegas, follows trends in film, games, animation, manga/cartoons, casinos, and gambling.

Dr. Morse has over thirty years of experience with Japan. He is a director of the Sangikyo Corportation, a telecommunications engineering firm. He was a professor at UCLA from 2001-2004 and taught manga and anime as the Tokyo Foundation Professor of Japan Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, until July 2005.
