Bulletin No. 1 Organiser The “Adaptive Classification and Coaching Workshop (Europe & Africa)” will be organised and facilitated by London Regatta Centre in conjunction with the FISA Adaptive Rowing Commission. Athletes attending the Workshops in order to be classified are also encouraged to participate at Poplar Regatta on Sunday 14th May. Adaptive Rowing events to include those currently offered at World Rowing Championships. All races will be over 1000m. This is an opportunity for competitors to gain some multi-lane racing experience prior to this year’s World Rowing Championships, Eton, Dorney. http://www.pbdrc.co.uk

Objectives of the Workshops These workshops will train qualified classifiers for adaptive rowing, equip overseas coaches with necessary classification and coaching knowledge in adaptive rowing and will facilitate overseas teams to promote the development of adaptive rowing in their own countries/ regions/clubs. With rowing now included in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, interest in adaptive rowing is growing rapidly. These workshops are the 2nd in a series of similar workshops around the world, organised in conjunction with FISA, to provide the necessary support for adaptive rowing development.
Enrollment The classification workshop is open to all accredited rowing coaches, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and medical doctors. The coaching workshop is open to all persons interested in coaching and organisation of adaptive rowing.
Enrollment Fee Entry to the Workshops is free, but overseas participants need to bear their own travel, meals and accommodation.
Regatta Fee A fee of £9 per athlete is payable to compete at Poplar Regatta on Sunday 14th May.

By road: The London Regatta Centre is outside of the congestion charge zone
The London Regatta Centre is on the Royal Albert Dock and is immediately south of the roundabout on the A1020 marked on the map below. The Royal Albert Dock is well signposted. follow signs for London City Airport, and then for the Royal Albert Dock.
The Centre is a 15 minute drive from Tower Bridge and a 25 minute drive from Junction 30 on the M25.
Directions from the M25 Take junction 30 off the M25 and travel down the A13 westbound, following signs for the Royal Docks, Woolwich Ferry and City Airport (A1020). At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit – Royal Albert Way, following the A1020. Go straight ahead at the next 2 roundabouts. At the third roundabout, take the first exit. At the next junction turn right and go straight ahead into the Regatta Centre car park.
Directions from the North Circular Follow the North Circular clockwise until you see signs for the A1020, to the Royal Docks, city airport and London arena. Go straight ahead at the roundabout intersection with the A13 and follow the directions above.
By rail The closest DLR station for the regatta is Royal Albert. Trains go direct to Royal Albert from Tower Gateway and Beckton. At the exit of the station, turn right and go straight down Dockside Road. The Regatta Centre is directly in front of you.
By bus Take the number 300 from East Ham or Canning Town. Alight at Stansfield Road/Strait Road Bus Stop for the London RegattaCentre.
Take the number 473 from North Woolwich or Stratford Bus Station. Alight at Prince Regent Bus Station for the London Regatta Centre.
Take the number 909 from Canning Town or Stratford Bus Station. Alight at Prince Regent Bus Station for the London Regatta Centre.
Take the number 325 from Beckton (Sainsbury’s). Alight at Prince Regent Bus Station for the London Regatta Centre.
Take the number 678 from East Beckton District Centre or Stratford Bus Station. Alight at Prince Regent Bus Station for the London Regatta Centre.
From Prince Regent Bus Station The London Regatta Centre is approximately 500m from Prince Regent Bus Station. From Prince Regent Bus Station turn right and walk down Victoria Dock Road on the right hand side of the road, go straight on at the roundabout into Royal Albert Way. The London Regatta Centre is located on the right.

In order to make sufficient preparations, we would like to receive Workshop nominations by 10th April 2006. Late applications will be accepted subject to space being available.
Poplar Regatta Entries Entries for Poplar Regatta should be submitted on the attached ARA entry form by 10th May. Payment can be made on the day of the Regatta – 14th May
