I had my fair share of japanese rappers...okay, so its like this...most of these motherfuckers are wack. I have one word. poseres. see homie, the difference is we can tell from whats real and whats phony. Japanese listeners dont know that, they have no clue, that these clowns are a joke. I felt like puking so many times watching all these mofos trying to act all hood. this music came from a struggle. I take it as a straight disrespect toward hip hop itself. scum like you make true hip hop to hip pop! but some of these rappers are okay...KG the trio, I can listen to them, cuz they rap about what they know, staying real to themselves, just using rapping to express. The content is what counts, not how you spit...

When hip-hop started coming out of the UK it was the same, just a straight copy of the NY stuff...but years later we got our own flavor and those cats are running with it, so I'm always happy to give them a listen. They mixed raps with drum and bass and chill out music, and use our own UK slangs so it's a new thing - that's what the purpose of hip-hop is I think....I'm hoping Japan can find it's own style soon before the pop guys completely fuck it up for everyone....
when Nitro microphone came out everyone was losing their mind over here, they were alright but I felt like it wasn't for me to comment on because I can't tell what they're talking about up on the tracks....they seem to be falling off now.

I do some rap in Japan and am impressed by your words about Japanese hiphop scene. I usually dont do what I do in front of foreigner like yall and if I do, I did not get feedback from them that much.
Some of us like myself feel that same way about cats acting like toting the gun for the CD jacket cover and we know its face ass shit. Even though I figure that Dabo or somebody just wanna stunt just to have fun but still it makes me depressed because most of them rapper in here do / think exactly the same. If you speak / Understand Japanese good enough to get into our community man,,
you think 90% Japanese are all whack because they like Pac and Biggie just the way they look. Dont give a fuck about how they sound or how they spit man. Is he a bad guy? Does he look like a criminal? That's what most of us think.
I was fucked up the worst when came back from United States in 2000 just to talk to some japanese dudes because until then, Japan had a real scene right here. With KG, Twigy, Lamp Eye, they made it from just imitating US culture into something original that we can feel. Not sound like American Hiphop or just Hiphop sounds like Ethnic shit, some artist were shining in 96 or around then.
Its not easy to get in store but please try a 真昼間 (Mappiruma) by Zeebra. If you do smoke and chill with your friend in wet-hot summer of Japan, you gotta listen to somthing other than your music that you are familiar with. The Bass is Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!
