ASK DAMMIT!!! Q&A from Todd ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q. 日本に来ること楽しみにしていますか?どんなお気持ちですか?
Todd(以下T)- I am super stoked to finally get to Japan. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was to not make the last run. I was down and out with a detached retina so my good friend, Tony Montana of Great White filled in for me.
Q.What was it like getting the call to tour with Slash?
スラッシュのツアーに参加することになったのはどのように決まったのか。
T-I was literally sitting in a restaurant having dinner with my Father in Las Vegas when Fitz, the drummer called asking if I could be in LA by noon the next day to jam. I figured at the very least it'd be fun to jam with Slash. I got there and played Night Train and that was it.
At the time I never knew what was expected of me. Were we gonna do a couple months of fly outs on weekends or what? It's been a year of pretty solid touring with a lot more to come so it's been a pretty exciting experience.
Q.What is your favourite song in the set?
スラッシュのセットで好きな曲は?
T-That's a good question. I like doing some obscure ones like Been There Lately from the second Snakepit record.
A song like Starlight is great because I think Myles and I sing really well together.
Of course I love singing the Lemmy song Dr Alibi and the Iggy song We're All Gonna Die. Doing something like Sweet Child and watching people get off on it is a big deal that's never lost on me though.
Q. What gear you're touring with?
ツアーではどのベース、機材を使っているのか。
T-
I use Music Man Stingray basses. All are equipped with hipshots for drop D or C# depending on whether we are in 440 or a half step down. Essentially I mainly use 2. The first is in 440. His name is Phil after Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy. It's black with a mirror pickguard which is a nod to the basses Phil used to play.
The second is named Dee Dee after Dee Ramone and it is tuned a half step down. It's off white with a tortoise shell pickguard like Dee Dee's. Lemmy signed this bass on the top horn during our first rehearsal with him.
Both have rosewood fret boards as I find them to be warmer though I was playing a spare of mine that has a maple fretboard that sounds amazing. I may have to investigate the maple fretboard option again.
They all have active pickups in them as well and are strung with Ernie Ball 105s.
I have two main basses and a spare for each though I have a lot of other babies in my collection including a Tom Peterson (Cheap Trick) 12 string, a fretless, a 5 string, some P-basses, an upright bass and more 6 strings than you can shake a stick at.
Amplification wise I'm using Gallien Krueger. I use two 2001 RB heads through the 8x10 cabs. They are monstrous. The combination of the Stingrays and GK makes for one aggressive rig. Like riding a wild bull.
I use the Relay G50 wireless from Line 6 which has been super reliable.
As far as pedals I only have a few. A distortion, a phaser and a Boss tuner (standard issue).
The real secret is the Sans Amp from Tech 21. Without it I don't know what I'd do.
