I think everyone know this church so I will introduce about this church whose name is Christ Church Cathedral. (^^) This church is the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle but perhaps more importantly, it occupies a very significant part on the hearts of all the people of Newcastle and offers compassion and support to all. It's history, it's presence and above all, it's accessibility make it a place for all people.
The cathedral is classied by the National Trust as a very significant heritage building and it's history is synonymous with the development of Newcastle. It is home to many historical treasures, works of art by Australia and international artists and the venus for many cultural and civic events. It welcomes many thousands of worshippers, visitors and tourists each year and the people who live in Newcastle rightly claim it as our Cathedral. the first church was built by order of Governor Macquarie and the Foundation stone for the first formal place of worship in the fledgling settlement was laid by Captain James Wallis , Commandant of the 46th Regiment on January 1817.
