Yes, somehow I am sick again...;-_-;

But it's a good opportunity to show some english phrases, that use the word "sick". It has many uses and meanings I think. So let's enjoy, even when we are sick. ^_^

1) Sick as a dog/ チョウ病気

When I woke up this morning, I felt as sick as a dog.

HIs face was almost green! Really, he looked as sick as a dog.

2) Sick of..../何かから疲れた

　I was sick of her terrible singing.

If you eat only broccoli for 1 year, you will be sick of it.

My roomate was always complaining, so I became sick of looking at his face. ^^

3) Worried sick/ 本当に心配した

Because my cat was missing for 2 weeks, I was worried sick!

I am so terrible at math, so I was worried sick about the math test.

When I went to Japan, I was worried sick if people could understand my Japanese.

4) Sick in the head/ 馬鹿みたい

If you think I am going to eat that nattou, you must be sick in the head.

That guy who goes outside in wintertime with no coat must be sick in the head.

Americans who eat pink, purple, and strange colored cakes, must be sick in the head.

5) Call in sick/ 風邪があったら仕事から休みの日を取る

　I felt really sick this morning, so I called in sick to work.

I agree, the taste of nattou is not good! ^^
There are many foods that are good for our health, so we don't need nattou...haha

Green/Blue is interesting ne!
We say the same thing for traffic lights. For Americans, the color "green" means to go, but in Japan you say "blue" right?

Actually, a teacher explained this to me a long time ago, but I cannot remember the reason.
If anyone knows the answer, please share it with us. ^^

Hi Hidy,

Yes, this is the confusing thing for Americans. ^_^
For us, "blue" and "green" are totally different colors, while japanese people maybe see blue and green as similar.
I know in some situations, Japanese call some things "blue" that we call "green". Such as traffic lights.
It's an interesting point though! ^_^
