Today's lesson is a little difficult and maybe not much fun. ^_^
But...I think it is important, especially for people who are practicing for TOEFL tests. So, let's practice how to use differnt ways of saying "To be". Such as: 「am」,「is」, and「are」
Actually, to remember the proper time to use these is not so hard, if you can remember some simple rules.
1)「am」is always used directly before "I" To make it a question, use 「am」after the question word
I am going to the store
Am I really that noisy?
I am often sick from eating nattou
2) 「is」is always used directly before "he" or "she" or "It" To make it a question, use 「is」after the question word
He is noisy
She is the nattou queen
It is going to be rainy today
Is he going to Seattle?
3) 「are」is always used directly before "They" "We" or "You". To make it a question, use 「are」after the question word
Why are you always buying new shoes?
We are going to to a movie tonight
They are always hugging like a couple
If you need more help with this, let's talk more about it. ^_^
