Most of you know our teacher Brian Edelstein, who has been working at SDUIS for over three years now.
He was born in Ohio, but grew up in Southern California and has had some amazing life experiences.
After finishing high school in San Diego, Brian went to U.C Berkley and U.C Davis. But with his passion for sailing beating stronger in his heart, he took his wife and three children on a life-time adventure. After building a couple of boats, the family sailed to the U.S. Virgin Island in the Caribbean, where they lived for 3 years, making a living taking tourists on sailing and snorkeling trip.
The family then sailed to the South Pacific and settled in Hawaii where Brian earned a degree in Geography and almost finished a Master's in Exercise Physiology which explains his hobby: exercise!
After twelve years the Hawaiian Islands, it was time to come back to the continent: San Diego, here comes Brian! Sixteen years ago, after volunteering at the Read San Diego Literacy Program and The Jewish Family Service ESL Program, he decided to go back to school and earned TESOL Certificate at UCSD. Since then he has been teaching English to foreign students. Brian considers SDUIS the best ESL school and highly recommends its programs. This patient and sometimes shy brilliant instructor shares his passion for books with his students and is always willing to help. Collecting books is his other hobby. As a result of his love for used book stores, he has built a library of "few"thousand books.
