Punjena paprika is a dish made of peppers, stuffed with a mix of meat and rice in tomato sauce, the ingredients consisting of green or red bell peppers, eggs, spices, salt, tomato, minced meat and rice. They can be made in sauce or baked in the oven, depending on a region. Its an all season Serbian favorite. There are many variations of the dish across the Balkans.
Beef soup is a must on a menu in a Serbian restaurant. In Serbia, given its continental climate it is common to eat soups during all seasons, even the hottest summer. Serbians love soups, because people are taught from very young that "Health comes from a spoon", meaning that soup dishes are the healthiest ones. Maybe this is the reason why there are very few people in Serbia with problem of weight. Beef soup is a cream soup made of pieces of beef, variety of vegetables and sour cream as an addition.
Cherry Pie is an oldie, from a recipe book of Serbian grandmothers and a cake that children adore. It is easy to make and delicious. The base paste makes it easy to apply any fruit you like, but traditionally Serbians use cherrys because it makes a nice combination of tastes: sweet and sour.
