For example, I would like to hear about your english (or another language) teaching experience!!
I got my own experience, and I learned one thing: if I teach to japanese people I have to pay attention to everything.
日本人に教えるのは面白いです。今まで、発音にこだわっていました。
いまでも発音にこだわってますが、最初に教えるのは普通に使ってる話言葉です。 相づちです!! 何でかというと、日本語は相づちが一杯あります。で、日本人は英語で話す時、日本語の相づちを使ってしまいます。例えば:「えーっと。。」「なるほど」「へえ」など。 So, I`m teaching at first how to say : なるほど =) `I see`
えーっと、まあ =) `Well`
etc.
After that, I teach the student to make questions in english like :
`I didn`t understand. Can you talk slowly? / Can you repeat? ` 分かりませんでした。ゆっくり話してもらいませんか。/ もう一回言ってもらいませんか。 `What means X ? ` (in case she/he doesn`t understand a word) X はどういう意味ですか。
など。
If I teach these things at first, I`ll be able to communicate easier with the student.
Now, my question:
if you are a teacher: What`s your teaching method? (自分の英語の教え方を教えてください) OR if you are a student: How would you like to be taught? (どういうふうに英語を習って欲しいですか)
Sorry for mixing japanese with english, but it`s a good practice for you english!
thanks a lot Shin-chan! That`s right, I think too that it`s important to know what does the student want to learn.
You said that you should follow the instructions of the book. But, don`t you have your own instructions? That`s what I would like to hear about!
