The Asian Cinema Fund (ACF) of the Busan International Film Festival is seeking new and talented projects in Asia for 2012.

The Asian Cinema Fund is committed to helping activate more independent film productions and the creation of a stable production environment for Asian filmmakers through the three categories of the Script Development Fund, Post-Production Fund, and Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund.

The Notable Achievement of ACF
Since its inception, ACF has been the strongest supporter of independent films in Asia and it has developed into a springboard for young talented filmmakers across the region that will foster and develop creativity with more diverse and original platforms.

Recently, ‘5 Broken Cameras’ (directed by Emad BURNAT & Guy DAVIDI/2010 AND Project) won the Public Broadcaster IDFA Audience Award and the Special Jury Award at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam 2011; in addition, it earned the World Cinema Directing Award at Sundance 2012.

NoNo (directed by Rommel TOLENTINO/2009 Script Development Project)was invited to the Generation Kplus section of the Berlin Film Festival 2012 and Romance Joe (directed by LEE Gwangkuk/2011 Post-production Project) was screened at the Official Competition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2012. In addition, Golden Slumbers (directed by Davy CHOU/2011 AND project) has recently been invited to the forum section of the Berlin Film Festival 2012.

More ACF projects are supported through diverse funding programs,such as Breathless (directed by YANG Ik June/2008 Post-production Project) and Wonderful Town (directed by Aditya ASSARAT/2007
Post-production Project), that have accomplished outstanding outcomes in various film festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

◎ Funding Category
1) The Script Development Fund

The Script Development Fund is organized to assist Asian filmmakers in the completion of scripts. Through this fund scheme, selected projects will be awarded 10 million Korean won (approximately 10,000 USD) each.

2) The Post-production Fund

The Post-production Fund selects high quality projects ready for post-production and provides a chance to complete the postproduction process at state-of-the-art facilities in Korea. This fund covers DI,sound mixing, and producing negatives and prints.

3) The Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund

The Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund is a loose coalition of film festival organizers committed to supporting the production and distribution of Asian documentaries. In order to encourage Asian documentary filmmakers that will facilitate the production and distribution of their projects, ACF will select projects that will be
awarded 10 million Korean won (approximately 10,000 USD) or 5 million Korean won (approximately 5,000 USD) each.

The ACF 2011 is now open for submissions

Deadline for Post-Production Fund: April 20.

Deadline for Script Development Fund &Asian Network of Documentary(AND) Fund: May 10.
