HP: So, Pete, how you finding being back in the band?

Pete: Really, really good to be back playing in the band again, yeah.

Dylan: At the time we had him, years ago, he had university so, like we lost touch with him. Now we lost touch with our old keyboard player and heard that Pete was back around and Pete heard that we were back around and you know, it was like “Our Pete”, yeah (laughs).

HP: There seems to be a trend amongst black metal bands like Satyricon and Cradle to write more thrashy, death metal stuff… do you think you guys are following suit?

Dylan: It' s always been there. We' ve always been Death Metal fans, yeah.

Pete: I don' t think we tend to try to follow any kind of style in particular… I mean, you play whatever comes out really, I mean, whatever we like, we like.

Dylan: Andy came in on Dark Requiem, that was his first album, and he started writing after that with Kings of Chaos, it was very death metally, but that' s because we have always loved Death Metal. I love playing both. We just play whatever we like, you know, if it comes out black, it' s black, if it comes out death, its death.

HP: The sound has definitely changed since Promethean Shores, which had really kind of Scandinavian roots.

Dylan: Yeah, well, at the time it was black metal and that was the thing, we kind of loved it more and wanted to play black metal, and I think it still stands fairly strong that at that time, it was the black metal recording that it is, but people change, people progress, people move on, don' t they?

HP: Um, so, what were your main influences with Redimus, you know, band wise, sound wise…?

Andy: What band wise? We got a lot of influences from names like Metallica, Slayer, going all the way through to Death Metal, black metal, with bands like Emperor.

HP: Ok on a less serious note, have you guys ever had a Spinal Tap moment.

(Everyone starts laughing)

Dylan: Fucking hell! We' ve had more moments than Spinal Tap ever had! We' ve had more members than Spinal Tap for starters! Everything has happened to this band!

Andy: We' ve had more moments than most bands need!

HP: So how does the black metal scene in this country compare to the European Black metal scene?

Dylan: It' s a smaller scene, but then it is a smaller country and it' s more isolated, but it is always there…

Andy: It makes it kind of better in a way.

Dylan: I think it is quite strong; it' s just not a big scene. I mean there was an explosion in the early nineties, and now it' s not as strong as it was, but then things never are, are they? I mean, when things start off, that' s when they peak and then after that it kind of plateaus and then it sails off, doesn' t it?

HP: No, I mean, it' s not as big or as strong as it is in Germany, it' s fantastic out there you know, but here we could do with more clubs and venues really, in Britain, we just haven' t got ‘ em.

HP: That is a big problem facing the rock and metal scene in the UK…Ok, I know you have a bit of a track record with Kerrang, lets hear about that…

Dylan: Yeah… They don' t like us!

Andy: Good!

(Everyone starts laughing)

Dylan: I think it started a few years ago when Jon was still in the band and he used to give Malcolm Dome a load of shit like, when Malcolm was at Kerrang, he did classic rock and stuff, it kind of goes back from there, ever since then they have disliked us. Kings of Chaos, innit?

Andy: Yeah. It was like, “Here we go, typical Black Metal” (Said with real distaste). It was like we were called “Cradle of Filth” all over again!”

HP: On a final note, the future and Hecate Enthroned… How' s it looking?

Andy: I think we' ve got a more positive attitude now. We' re going to be moving forward and more happening musically. Definitely... but we' re just going to see how it goes for now.

Pete: I' m all for bringing in fresh influences into the band, because, well, I was classically trained on the piano, so... I would like to bring some of that into it. I can imagine there will be a lot of death kept, a lot of the death riffs, in there but there will be a lot of the black coming back into it, especially on the likes of the keyboard riffs.
