firstly here is the introduction of Montreal city.(mostly about Quebec state) Montreal is the biggest city in Quebec, which is independent state of Canada. and as you guys know, it's one of the biggest city, where French is spoken in the world.
In 16 cent, first french arrived Montreal. but in that age, the great Briten had already expanded their territory in North America. Therefore, some of the land of Quebec was also annexed to to the territory of Briten. until 1960~1970 in quebec, the language spoken most, was English even if the most of the population of it was French.
but from 1970~, natonalists of French have gradually appeared, and that was the initiative of drastic language-change in quebec. and finally 1995 was the declaration of independent year of quebec.
to be continued....
※its QUITE demanding to take memo and summerize of Englsih speaking vids...though its really good way to train english ability, I think^^
welcome back!!here's the part 2 of"montreal street food series in Aljazeera English"
―ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
after the independent, french have became dominant language in quebec more than ever in quebec. In montreal, there's been OQLF, so called "language police", which promote the feeling of French of Montreal.
because of those policy of Quebec, Even famous fast food shops like KFC, MacDonalds' have to change their name into French. (this dosen't seems to be law, but strong pressure most be put upon on every kinds of shops)
some says this is a excessive pressure.
And, there's also a pressure says "No street(fast/easy to make-food) food"
Originally conservative French thinks french food is really sublime and its a kind of art. so fast food or just big food isn't real "food", they say.
