当日の興奮が伝わってきますね
【First show on US Tour- 5/18 LA】
I have been waiting for this show since November and it was better than I dreamed! Club Fais- Do Do in Los Angeles was decorated with about 300 origami cranes for the show last night- soo cool! The opening band, Seismic, played an energetic set for about an hour. Seismic was a lot of fun, never heard them before, but this definently wont be my last time! Since they played early, for the first few songs I was able to play with my hoop right in front of the stage. I LOVED it!
Finally Meltone took the stage, p[laying two strong, mind blowing sets and an encore! Some of the songs I recognized were (in no particular order):2001 Space Odyessy, Im Your Venus, We will Rock you (and they did! We all kept saying, "I was ROCKED by Meltone!") and so much more! They also played a few NEW songs I had never heard before. Cant wait to hear more! Meltone has improved soo much since I saw them last year at High Sierra! Their skill and talent just blow my mind! They are soo good! And as musicians, just WOW! They play thier instruments with such skill and precision and their own personality! The guys are so humble, yet totally Rock Stars when you watch them on stage! The stage presence is mesmerizing! Usually I dance with my eyes closed, buit with Meltone I couldnt take my eyes off of them and how they performed on stage! They looked like they were having so much fun! At one point in the show I turned around to check out the audience and there were people dancing in the balcony, upstairs by the pool table and sound booth! Many people I talked to before the show had not planned on returning for the second night, but after the show they changed their mind. To quote a friend who just texted me right this second, "strength returning....will 2 live increasing! last night was Awesome, ready for round 2! No hold bars!"
At the end of the second set, Meltone asked the audience if they wanted more and everyone screamed, "Fuck Yeah!" Then Takuya asked, do we want 1 song ot 2. And what do you think we screamed for? 2 more, of course and long songs (not those wimpy short 1 song encores) to make us happy!
There were two stages in the main area, both shaded. One on the right and the other on the left, both beautifuly decorated. This set up made for very little down time between bands. (I hope someone posts pictures-please!). And the audience area was also shaded with a type of mesh tarp(Thank you, Barnett). Surrounding the stage area were various Vendors selling everything from hula hoops to snow cones and Hemp clothing and so much more.
It was over 90 degrees F (Hotter than Hell!) before Meltone played, but once the music started the wind kicked up a little and I didn't mind, nor notice the heat for the entire set. It seems that the audience didn't mind either because everyone who had been sitting in chairs, drinking water or beer and relaxing while the previous band played on the right stage, jumped up to dance and didn't stop until the music did! Meltone played from 3:00-4:45ish. The crowd seemed to get bigger and bigger as they played and never stoped bouncing and dancing to every song! Sorry I dont have the set list, but some songs I remember (and can name) in no particular order are: Smoke on the Water, Im Your Venus and the best was the last song. Im calling it The Wooo! Song because the audience synced up with the rhythm of the song and jumped up with both hands straight up into in the air and yelled, "Wooo!" all together! It started with a few people and each time more and more joined in, until it was nearly everyone in the crowd! Loved the audience participation!
This set was filmed by a professional film crew. There were cameras above the stage and on the stage and in the audience, filming from many different angles. Im not sure whats going to happen with the recording, but I bet its going to look really cool!
I also found out that the Merch booth SOLD OUT of Meltone New Wave CDs. So, if you are planning on buying one at a show, do it early!!
Joshua Tree Music Festival is a "3 day high desert camping experience!" Located just outside the National Park in the Mojave Desert, around a lake. This beautiful location features Joshua trees (Yucca brevifolia), which can only be found here and very few other places in the world! "In addition to Joshua tree forests, the western part of the park includes some of the most interesting geologic displays found in California's deserts. The dominant geologic features of this landscape are hills of bare rock, usually broken up into loose boulders." (Wikipedia). What a beautiful location for a music festival!
The band members were taking lots of pictures of the landscape, the Joshua Trees and the rocky hills to show their friends back in Japan. And, they even posed like the cover of U2s Joshua Tree album, just for fun! I'd love to see that photo!
