Where the band name came from?
Ben & Martin: It's a play on the name "The Spastic Society" which was a charity for people with mental and physical disabilities.
What kind of band(s)/music your band influenced by?
Ben & Martin: Yellow Magic Orchestra, Daft Punk, The Strokes, Human League, Fleetwood Mac, Stan Bush, John Carpenter, Bruce Springsteen, Tel Jeroen, Devo, Laura Branigan, Eurythmics, Kraftwerk, New Order, Talking Heads, Harold Faltermeyer, Metallica, Wendy Carlos, Prince, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and all the others we know we don't want to sound like.
Do you think music and fashion are connecting? Why or why not? How do you feel about that?
Ben & Martin: Most musicians wear clothes... Most people who wear clothes listen to music. Yes, there's a very definite connection.
What do you think you would do if you don't play music?
Martin: Swim with sharks and protect them from fishermen. But I'd probably die in the process, either from lack of music or shark attack.
Ben: I would be a criminal stealing cars and robbing people with a gun and a knife because I would be angry with no music. So I would probably be in prison.
What is your girls and boys type?
Martin: Girls with an interest in electronic sound, death and disability.
Ben: Girls that want to have fun and have a good time, all the time.
Do you contact in Greham? Still friends? Be honest!
Ben & Martin: Yeah, we're still in contact but we don't get to see him very often. He seems to be very busy with Yeti. Maybe in the future he can join us again. We'll see what happens. For now we are just programming and using drum machines.
When are you going to upload new tracks? I'm wating for them for ages!
Ben & Martin: If they're not up by the time you read this, then very soon. We're working on stuff now that's kind of melancholy in parts, more electronic, perhaps more coarse or digital than our older stuff but also maybe more human. It doesn't really make sense to describe a sound. You'll just have to wait and see. Some people say our music is nostalgic, which we would agree with, but now we tend to see that as more a longing for simplicity which manifests itself in the sounds of our childhood. A lot of those sounds remind us of happier times so you end up with lyrics that are sometimes quite desperate and music that's quite the opposite. Maybe not... We can't really be objective
