Just got back from Bighorn. That's one hell of a drive! (Note to self, never, NEVER, drive more than 6 hours to an event!) I left with my friend Jeff Tuesday after work and drove 22 hours straight to Sheridan. Got there about 5:30pm Wednesday. Got a good nights sleep. Thursday we checked in, went out to the start line to take a look around. The pasta dinner was "ok" (I would have rather opened a can of whatever and ate that instead), and went back to the hotel for a very sleepless night. I was up almost once an hour from 11pm to 3am going to the bathroom (maybe I was a little over-hydrated?) The pre-race meeting was at 9am and the race started promptly at 11am.
32 hours and 23 minutes later, I ran across the finish line. My feet were toast at the end. There was A LOT of mud and A LOT of water out on the course (and snow). I changed socks 6 times and shoes 3 times.
I received 3rd place in my age group (enjoying my last year of 29 and under)!
Gotta go to sleep now. I've been up ~122 hours out of the last 144 hours. That can't be good for my body!
