スカラ座の歴史に残るオペラ公演を、順次、ノーカット・ライブ録音CD2枚で発売するというものです。しかも、解説書付き（伊語・英語）。
その第１弾がコレッリ・カラス共演の"La Vestale"(1954)です。
La Scala Memories has arrived.
Skira Classica is happy to announce the creation of a new series of publications “Teatro alla Scala Memories”: a BOOK+2 CDs that bring together the enduring operas in their original version which contributed to creating the legend that is the most famous opera theatre in the world.
Each publication is made up of:
· 2 audio Cds of a complete opera in its uncut version recorded at Teatro alla Scala.
· a book containing an introduction to the opera with new stories and anecdotes, the original programme with an accompanying text published at the time, the complete libretto and an album full of photographs of scenes, sketches and costume designs from the Theatre Archive. All the texts are in Italian and English.
The first title to be released is La Vestale by Gaspare Spontini in the 1954 staging at La Scala conducted by Antonino Votto, directed by Luchino Visconti and starring Maria Callas and Franco Corelli.
Among the next publications will be: Anna Bolena conducted by Gianandrea Gavazzeni in 1957, Così fan tutte of 1956 with Guido Cantelli directing and conducting, La Fanciulla del West of 1956 conducted by Antonino Votto and Traviata of 1956 directed by Visconti, conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini and the extraordinary performance of Maria Callas and Gianni Raimondi.
