What’s it about: A chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members
The word first started out in 2004 whether or not JJABRAMS was going to direct the new Star Trek XI movie. Its been a long time since the movie was last out. The original Captain James T. Kirk is apparently not in the new upcoming movie. The 76-year old actor, who played Captain Kirk in the original long-running sci-fi show, asked the obvious question to Extra TV: "How could you not put one of the founding figures into a movie that was being resurrected? That doesn't make sense to me!" He added: "I've become even more popular than I was playing Capt Kirk -- I'm good box office and I get publicity."
The 11-year-old Jimmy Bennett, according to the ComingSoon.net website, will play the kid version of James T. Kirk in the movie. Kirk will be mostly played by actor Chris Pine in the film. Bennett has appeared in Daddy Day Care, The Amityville Horror, Hostage, Firewall and Poseidon.
Other major cast members has also been selected.
Chris Pine ... Kirk Zachary Quinto ... Spock Eric Bana ... Nero Winona Ryder ... Amanda Grayson Zoe Saldana ... Nyota Uhura Karl Urban ... Leonard 'Bones' McCoy Bruce Greenwood ... Christopher Pike John Cho ... Hikaru Sulu Leonard Nimoy ... Spock Simon Pegg ... Scotty Anton Yelchin ... Pavel Chekov Greg Ellis ... Chief Engineer Olson
Wow, Winona Ryder is also going to be in the movie. She has been cast as Spock's human mother, Amanda Grayson. Zachary Quinto plays the younger Spock, while Leonard Nimoy slips his pointy ears back on to play the elder Spock.
Russell Crowe earlier this week (see the video below) about the rumors that Paramount would like to get him to play the villain in their new Star Trek movie. While Crowe wasn't terribly forthcoming with us about the buzz, he did open up about it a little more in another recent interview. Speaking with ExtraTV.com, Crowe said of the rumors that he'll be starring in the next Trek, "Apparently. But I haven't read anything. I can't make a decision about anything until I read it so we'll see what happens." While that's far from a "not true," it's also far from a "hell, yeah" so time will tell.
Check out the cool website because there is something hidden for trek explorers. hehehe (hint: click the red dot)
