Too Much Time in School?

Japanese Schools...Did you know?

Japan has the 2nd longest school year in the world.

Only Chinese students go to school more than Japanese.

Longest School Years:

1. China: 251 days
2. Japan: 243 days
3. Korea: 220 days
4. Israel: 215 days
5. Germany & Russia: 210 days
** USA: 180 days

Japanese students go to school 2 months more than American students.
Every Year!

2 Extra Months of School...Every Year!

I grew up in American schools. I think the Japanese school year is too long!
I think 180 days is enough. Students should enjoy more holiday time!

No, I don't.

I think Japanese school year isn't too long because for me, school is a kind of comfortable place to have fun as there are a lot of friends too.
So actually, I want more time in school so I don't agree with your idea.
I understand your saying that "students should enjoy more holiday time." but schools also give students lots of fun.

In my opinion,
for Japanese people, we need to understand how to cope with other people in order to avoid collision. It's a kind of Japanese custom, as you know.

In school, we become to understand such a Japanese harmony thing by spending more time together.

That's a system in Japan, I think.

Of course, I personally feel like that. I need more time to learn the Japanese style relationship.

What do you think??

Thanks for the great comments. I can understand your feeling.

When I worked in Japanese school, I think most of the kids were happy to be there. And mostly they enjoyed themselves.

You're right! I think it's training for Japanese society, culture... and company life. Harmony, working together in one place is important.

More group time and less individual time. The Japanese way I think.

Of course in the USA, it's less group time and more individual time.

Not sure which is better. Both customs have good points and bad.

When I was Juniorhigh and High school student,
Ｉ had thought "ah,everyday Why should Ｉ go to the school?
too much!! Want to trip somewhere!! "
Because hate studying and waking up early morning
;belonged basketball-society.

and now,
I think "Certainly,the schooldays are long,
Sometimes it can become a source of STRESS.
But at the same time, it also can a chance of BRUSH MYSELF or
UP MOTIVATION　by meeting people.
So the long schooldays is very important for me."
