Program Detail

The Au Pair in Norway program runs year-round and is offered for 6 to 12 months, with the possibility to extend for another year. Most placements start in July, August or September and end in June. As an Au Pair, you will live as a member of your Host Family, providing a maximum of 30 hours of childcare per week.

Some of your duties may include dropping the children off and picking them up from school, interacting and playing with the children, helping them with their homework, helping to keep their rooms clean and cooking light meals for them. Each family situation is different and schedules will be arranged with your Host Family. Au Pairs are not responsible for heavy housework unrelated to the children or for managing the household, but may be expected to help out with light household duties such as vacuuming, dusting and laundry.

You receive:

・A salary of NOK 3,000 per month.
・NOK 400 per month for travel card.
・10.2% of your income in vacation money at the end of your stay.
・1 complete day off per week (at least 2 Sundays a month).
・25 days of vacation per year.
・Health and travel insurance.
・Please be advised that you will be obliged to pay taxes on your income. The tax percentage is estimated by the value of food, accommodation and your monthly salary. Normally, an au pair receives approximately NOK 2,500 net per month.
