Casey Mack and myself, with the blessing of Klein Dytham Architecture, are organizing Pecha Kucha New York, coming September 20th to the Beer Garden of the Bohemian Hall in Queens.
You've probably heard about the phenomenon, or read about it online (www.pecha-kucha.org), but in essence it's presenting your work/activities tornado-style in an informal setting. The concept is simple: you can show 20 slides, with 20 seconds per slide. Your total presentation time is 6 minutes40 seconds. It's design karaoke.
Mark Dytham will be one of the speakers of 12. Others onboard include - not necessarily in order of appearance Eric Bunge and Mimi Hoang of nArchitects, Kate Orff of Scape, Sarah Oppenheimer, Christian Jankowski, Nader Vossoughian, Charles Renfro of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Ian Kizu-Blair and Sam Lavigne of SFZero, Ben Aranda and Chris Lasch of Aranda/Lasch, Cynthia Leung and Beverly Liang of Dear Reader magazine, Andrew Klemmer of Paratusgroup, and Valeria Mogilevich and Damon Rich of the Center for Urban Pedagogy.
Door's at 7pm, presentation's at 8:20. There will be a $4 cover supporting this and future PK's here in New York...
