Well, it looks like I just missed my chance to take the test this year however I plan on going to Japan for a year with a study abroad program. I currently am majoring and taking Japanese classes at SJSU,working at the local japanese market, and have been following the Deathnote manga series like a fiend. All of which has helped with my Japanese greatly. My question is though, is it possible to take the test while in Japan or does it have to be taken outside of the country? Also, I've seen a few good books at Kinokuniya to help study for the test and I was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations for study books. Thanks for the help and I'm glad I found this group here on mixi.
You can take it in Japan or in big cities around the world. I used the "Kanzen Master" series on the recommendation of a friend and found them pretty good. And there's free software called Kanji Gold which is amazing for learning kanji. Good luck!
Yeah, that's a great link! I think you can register to take the test from August and September. You can get the registration form at Kinokuniya or Tower Records in August for about 500 yen.You will be placed at a test site that is relatively near your house, usually at a local university.
I like the series "The Preparatory Course for the Japanese Language Test", published by Unicom Inc. for review. The books are relatively small so they are great for doing a bit of review on the train.
