oh my god! my listening part had the speakers keep fading out and then they brought in a boom box and the cd was scratched and kept skipping so they had two ghetto blasters in there and it was all a mess.
why do they even put graphs on the test? maybe it's just my super power but they always seem way too easy.
oh man that sucks! I've heard that some classrooms have ghetto blasters. we had BOSE speakers. doesn't seem fair. a friend of mine said that in her room, the proctor accidently played the ”時間です”tune instead of the ”後5分です” during the final section, which sent everyone into a panic. where do they get these test proctors anyway?
i agree that the listening was especially difficult this year. Way too many twists and turns and actually I found that most of the conversations weren't that applicable to regular life situations. Especially the guy making the doll and that question about the hierarchy of the 3 people in the conversation. I mean, are those things really that important to know for getting by in Japan?
Was it just me, or did they re-use some 2kyuu questions on the grammar section? Also, what was with that one question on the long article reading section: "What was the author probably thinking when she yelled at her mother?" How the hell is anyone supposed to know what she was thinking then? Are we supposed to take into account what the author is thinking now as she's writing the article?
I didn't think the listening was so bad. I mean, there were several far-out and difficult questions, but by and large they were alright. Then again, maybe I was just led into their traps and only have a false sense of confidence. そらす means to avoid or divert. In novels, you often see, "目をそらす”meaning to look away or avoid eye-contact.
i didnt take it cos i'm japanese, but two of my friends did. they were such nervous wrecks; i hope they did great on it.
by the way, お疲れ様です on your exam.
hope you guys did well.
雨具さん, yeah you do have a damn good memory. i guess i need to take one to catch up with y'all... :)
what did everyone put for the coffee cup question? A budding flower on the cup and a flower in bloom on the saucer?
how about that one question with the 4 chart choices? The listening said something about x, y, and z and that was about it. I thought it was either #1 or #4.
the hierarchy of the 3 people was also very difficult. I knew the woman was the boss because she wasn't using 敬語, but where or where was 田仲さん? was he at the bottom of the totem pole or between the 2 people?
wesu,
My answers:
1.A budding flower on the cup and a flower in bloom on the saucer
(because she said something sbout having them different)
2. 4. x->y->z (because when he was explaining he said that when x leads to y and y leads to z, or at least that's what I thought he was saying).
3. woman on the top. then the man. and then tanaka-san (on the bottom). (woman's tone was quite bossy and the man said something about asking tanaka doing some project or something. but again it's only what I thought they said).
雨具, I agree with your answers. On the third one, I just assumed that Tanaka was on the bottom because otherwise the woman would have asked Tanaka directly instead of asking Tanaka's own subordinate to ask Tanaka to do something.
or something like this. And the question was: when did the man think that the meeting was?
And I didn't understand. he THOUGHT before the phone call, or during, or after? Or when exactly...
2. and the first listening question: I honestly thought that the two marui kao were females. Only after some time I understood that it was a futotta otoko. They should hire somebody who draws with a better seibetsu characteristics.^^
雨具: That one was tricky, but the man said, "He would definitely get the day of the week right." So if he said it was Monday, then it's Monday, and he just got the date wrong. Since Monday is actually the 7th, that's the date of the meeting.
For number three, the guy said he wanted non-smoking and at the end, he said really quickly, "As long as it's not in the center, I don't care where the seat is," so, yeah, aisle.
