Hello everyone and welcome to English on Tap. My name is Jon and I am the main teacher and head "Wizard" at EoT. Please allow me to introduce myself.
I'm currently 28 years old. I live in Minamigyotoku. I spend my nights working as a bartender at the Melting Pot, and my days are spent playing computer games and teaching English. I'm from the state of Indiana in the U.S. I have been in Japan for almost eight years. I enjoy reading books, listening to music and watching movies. My favorite type of music is heavy metal. I always try to go to live events such as Summer Sonic and Loud Park.
If you already speak English well, then English on Tap is a great way for you to keep up practice and maintain your skills. If you want to learn to speak better, English on Tap will help you with your weak points. We're not just a school, we're a family. Everyone helps each other here. I encourage those of you who have not been to one of our lounge parties to come and see what we are like. We meet on the second Sunday of every month. I hope to see you all there. Jon先生の言う通り、
毎月第２日曜のLounge Partyはとてもアットホーム。
居間にいる感じです。
というより、海外の連続ホームコメディ（観客の笑い声が聞こえて来るやつ）
situation comedyの中にいる様な感覚です。
学校でもないのでテキストは無し。
今日のテーマはこれ！なんて決められているわけでも無く
普段、友達と話しているのと同じ感覚。
お茶を飲みながら、お互い趣味の話や最近の話をしている間に
「えーっと、こういう時は英語でなんて言ったらいいんだろう？」
「へー英語ではそう言うんだあ」と言う具合に自然に教えてもらえるんです。
いつ何時どんな会話になるか予測不能なので
何気なく英会話の実践力が身に付くと思います。
私は以前、某英会話スクールに２年間通っていたのですが
色々疑問に思う所があって辞めました。
実はあまり役に立たない振り替え制度。
人数が少ない上に定着しない外国人講師。（担任制のはずなのに）
発音のあやしい日本人講師。
オプションで教材を買わせようと必死な姿勢。
いっぱい聞けない。いっぱい話せない授業。
なんの保証も無いのに授業料はまとめて一年分先払い。
２年間、全く無駄だったわけじゃないけれど、
もっと他の方法を見つけなきゃな。
と思っていた時に出会ったのがEnglish on TapとLounge Partyでした。
現在English on Tapで個人レッスン中。
最初はネイティブの先生と一対一で会話出来るんだろうかと心配でしたが
どーーーーしても分からない時は、“非常事態”として日本語が出て来ます
「この発音と、この発音の違い分からない」とか
「この言葉と、この言葉の違いは何？」とか、とことん教えてもらえて今は満足です。
