a) "Studying can be difficult." b) "I don't like driving." c) "My favourite hobby is painting." a) "Studying languages can be difficult." b) "I don't like driving cars." c) "My favourite hobby is painting watercolours." ・pointless complaining ・a settling of debts ・the studying of English ・his eating of fatty foods *冠詞と共に使ったら普通にジェランドは直接目的語がない。 例:"The studying of English is difficult." O "The studying English is difficult." X
Please call me after arriving at home." 例:”I was looking forward to meeting her." 例:"John always talks about travelling to other countries." 例:"She made lunch before leaving home." 例:"Are you used to working here yet?" Please call me after your arrival (at home)." 例:"I was looking forward to our date (my date with her)." 例:"John always talks about travel (to other countries)." 例:"She made lunch before her departure (from home)." 例:"Are you used to your job here yet?" Are you used to working here?" O 例:"Are you used to work here?" X 例:"Did you use to work here?" O "Used to"の'to'は不定詞です("to work").
・I want to travel. ・I dislike travelling. 次に述べる動詞の後には殆どジェランドを使う: admit, appreciate, avoid, carry on, consider, defer, delay, deny, detest, dislike, endure, enjoy, escape, excuse, face, feel like, finish, forgive, give up, can't help, imagine, involve, leave off, mention, mind, miss, postpone, practise, put off, report, resent, risk, can't stand, suggest, understand. 例:"I can't stand being here any longer!" 例:"They are considering having a baby." 例:"She couldn't help loving him." 以下の動詞と両方使える: begin, continue, hate, intend, like, love, prefer, propose, start. 例:I like to watch movies/I like watching movies. 例:It started to snow/It started snowing.
The car needs washing." (needs to be washed) 例:"The contract requires signing." (needs to be signed) 例:"The job wants redoing." (needs to be redone) *上の"wants"の使い方は英国の英語です。
She can't stand to be alone"は間違いない「一般的に彼女はひとりぼっちになる時が嫌いだ」のニュアンスみたいです。 She can't stand being alone"は多分一緒の意味があるかもしれますが、多分「今彼女が一人にいると、彼女はそれが嫌い」のニュアンスです。
