言えそうで言えない英語。コミュのa funny phase "Catch-22"

”catch-22", アメリカ人はよく使う言葉です。

意味は：In non-psychological circumstances, the phrase "Catch-22" (based on the book of that title) has come into popular use to describe a less formal style of double bind, a cyclical conundrum, or "no-win situation". A Catch-22 situation, like a double bind, is also inherently self-defeating: the very act of trying to solve it prevents it from happening.

dilemma,paradox,等の「どうし様もない矛盾。」「その矛盾状態。」
２２は米軍規則の２２条とかで、
「気が狂ったら、自己申告で除隊出来る。しかし、『自分が気が狂っている』と判断が出来るのは狂っていない証拠。」
の意味みたいです。

えっと。たとえば

お金がほしいとするでしょ？　お金があればビジネスがはじめられてお金が入ってくる。でもビジネスをはじめるにはお金がかかる。

そういう状態のことです。

I had a colleague who was transferred to the U.S. from Australia. His final exasperation was car insurance: in order to get car insurance in the U.S., based on his age, he needed to have evidence that he was insurable, which means he needed to have prior insurance with a U.S. insurer. He couldn't get insurance because he didn't have insurance. I said to him, "It's a Catch-22," and he knew exactly what I meant.
