Aloha again to all the Kama-Ku-Ra MIXI family and to all new members who are just joining us on our great journey to build a Hawaiian double hulled canoe and to fulfill the dream of my brother Tiger Espere. I would like to take this time to personally thank the people who purchased an Original Kama-Ku-Ra T-shirt mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for your financial support you have helped to draw our canoe family of Japan (Japan Hawaiian Canoe Association) closer to building the first phase of our 5 year plan, and that is to build Ko Do Mo Kama-Ku-Ra I will explain more about the 5 year plan at a later date but, today I would like to talk about the T-shirt and the design. In the beginning when Tiger and I along with my son Cason were trying to come up with an idea for designing a T-shirt for a fundraiser to build Kama-Ku-Ra, Tiger would share his excitement of how the project was going and now he needed to raise the money, and because I have a T-shirt company he asked if I would make a design for Kama-Ku-Ra the canoe. I told him that he should draw the design for the canoe project, and Tiger was so humble and shy he said “bradda, I cannot draw good, you go do um fo me”. Then I told a story about when he was young and full of energy and so excited about surfing and couldn’t wait for the biggest waves to arrive at Paumalu (Sunset Beach) on the north shore of the island of Oahu, and how he drew pictures of what he though was perfect beautiful waves with surfers in a surf stance that blended in harmony with the ocean, and he had that picture placed right above his head in his bedroom. I told him how wish I had that picture now, then he told me thank you for the story. I think it was about 6 months later that he showed me his concept of the design, it was simple but, it had great Mana (spiritual energy) because it reflected his excitement for the project but most of all his love for Kama-Ku-Ra the canoe. Again I thank all of you for your support for the Kama-Ku-Ra project. I will be returning to Japan in January 2008 to hold a town meeting to give an update and to share the story of my journey and commitment to the project. Mahalo Nui Loa Bradda Loui P.S.
