Hello everyone.
I’m Yumi Morita. My mixi name is Go.

I will go to Bangladesh on August.
So, I’d like to introduce Bangladesh.

The official name of Bangladesh is The People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh was East Pakistan that was one of states in Pakistan.
East Pakistan became independent from Pakistan in 1947.

By the way, do you know National flag of Bangladesh?
It looks like one of Japan.
Their designs are same.
Japan has white and red.
Bangladesh has green and red.
And it became independent as Bangladesh in 1971.

So, population of Bangladesh is one hundred fifty million. (1億５千万人)
In other words, in Bangladesh it lives the population more than Japan in the area
almost the same as Hokkaido.
The capital city is Dacca.
About four million people lives in Dacca.

Official language is Beng Language. Bangladesh means “Bengali’s country”
in Beng Language.
Naturally, I can’t speak Beng Language.
I worry whether to be able to communicate with native people.
So, I want to do my best to communicate in English.

Religion is almost Islam and few Hindu.
I’m scheduled to visit some mosques.
I’m interested in Islam.
So I’m looking forward to that.

The Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 was won to Mohammad Yunus and Grameen Bank.
Mohammad Yunus is the president of Grameen Bank.
He invented Micro Credit Business as object of poorest segment of the population.
He has done the notable contribution to support the independence base of them
through Grameen Bank.

Grameen Bank was founded in 1983.
Grameen means “farer” in Beng Language.
And it is proud of high repayment rate that is 98%.
The system of Grameen Bank is how to lend for group of five.
And the group plan to work and check each other.
Then members of Grameen Bank are almost women.
Women are center of poverty in Bangladesh and Islamic society.
But in Bangladesh, the woman has become the president and the prime minister in the past.
Not only the bottom of country but also the top of country are women
in Bangladesh.
I think Bangladesh is mysterious very much.

Now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says to reconsider going to Bangladesh.
Because Bangladesh put off election of the president to next year’s January from
this year’s.
August is safe relatively.
I’m looking forward to going there and seeing various things.
