タブラとインドの口リズの合 @ グリーンハウス

今年のお盆連休にタブラ奏者シェンフリンデルと一緒に吉野の光祭りに参加しました。土曜日の午後にアンビエントステージになっていた体育館でたくさんの人がのんびりしていました。座る場所を見つけて、５時からの演奏を待ちながら、シェンは静かにタブラを叩き始めました。すると徐々に人が集まり、パーカッション楽器やデイジェを持っている人も少なくありませんでした。とても楽しいジャムセッションになり、シェンは安定でありながら多様なリズムの流れを驚くほど長く維持していました。
光祭りの後は色々な人が秩父のグリーンハウスへ数日間のギャザリングに来ました。その時シェンは何回もソロの演奏をしたり、他楽器の奏者と一緒に演奏したり、DJセット中演奏しただけではなく、インフォーマルなレッスンを何人にも教えてあげました。驚いたことに6才の子供にもすぐタブラの明確な音を出せるように指の複雑の位置や叩きの技を教えていました。
9月1〜3日の週末に、シェンはタブラの演奏技術をさらに高めたい、または最初から習いたい人のために集中ワークショップをやります。グリーンハウスはそういうイベントに最適な場所です。上質のサウンドシステムと色々な楽器のコレクションを持ったメイン音楽室の外に、プライベートやグループレッスンに適応した部屋やアウトドアローケーションもいくつかあります。グリーンハウスは秩父の涼しい山奥にあり、散歩や水泳ができる自然の美しいところが近くにあり、温泉も近くにあります。
セッションの間にライブ・レコードのインド音楽や他の民族音楽やビデオが楽しめます。見美しい食事、スナックや飲み物も提供します.

Tabla and Indian Vocal Rhythm Workshop @ The Greenhouse
During the Obon holidays this year, I attended the Hikari Matsuri in Yoshino together with the tabla player Shen Flindell. On the Saturday afternoon, there were many people relaxing in the gymnasium that served as the ambient stage. We found a place to sit, and while waiting for the performances to begin at 5:00, Shen began playing his tablas quietly. Gradually people gathered around, some of them with percussion instruments, and quite a few with didges. It became a very enjoyable jam session, with Shen maintaining a steady but endlessly varied rhythmic current for a surprisingly long time.
After the Hikari Matsuri, various people came to the Greenhouse in Chichibu for a multi- day gathering, during which Shen not only performed many times, solo, with other instrumentalists, and with several DJ sets, but also gave informal lessons to a number of people. I was struck by how quickly he was able to teach a six- year- old boy the complex position of fingers and technique of striking needed to produce a clear and distinct tabla sound.
On the weekend of 1-3 September, Shen will hold a more intensive workshop for people interested in beginning or improving their tabla playing. The Greenhouse is a perfect place for this kind of event. In addition to the main music room, with its high quality sound system and collection of many instruments, there are various other rooms and outdoor locations suitable for private or group lessons. The Greenhouse is high in the cool Chichibu mountains, with many beautiful areas to stroll, and several swimming places and onsens nearby.
In between sessions there will be live and recorded Indian and other ethnic music and videos for your further enjoyment. and delicious meals, snacks, and beverages will be available.
