Hi!! My name is chibi-rie.
I want a kind of rule book of Japanese culture for my boss, American.
Because I'll invite him to my wedding party, and I want to let him know common sense of wedding ceremony in recent Japan, for example, how to pass gratuity, speech of the boss, etc...
Do you know that kind of book for foreign people? If you know one, please let me know!!

I found the following books on Amazon (I should get them myself I think).
- The Japanese way
- Japanese Culture
- In the Know in Japan

Good luck!
how do you do
my name is naoki
I totally agree with your idia, because sometimes it makes you feel embressed not the boss himself.
To show or hand him that kinds of book will be helpful for him in the term of "hot to live in Japan".
Here are two web sites that may be of some help:
http://gojapan.about.com/cs/traditionculture/a/japanesewedding.htm
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2061.html
YEAH!! thats a great idea...I want to ge one for my self too!
If you make it, post it on a site or design your own web page that everyone can use. Because i'm pretty sure everyone is going to want one that is either coming to Japan or has friends from other countries coming to Japan.
There is a book that helps Americans live in japan. it is called Culture Shock: Japan. There are other books in the series - I read the one on Korea before moving there. Quite good.

But these books cover many things related to an American living in Japan, not just the etiquette of going to a wedding.
