☆ENGLISH ONLY☆コミュのhelp me select a new Softbank Phone

This is it.
My good old phone speaker died. Repair would cost 15.000+ yen, I guess it's time to get a new cell phone.

Iphone seems attractive but not sure if it is really convenient as a phone (am sure as a multiusage device it's fine but if the phone part is weak ... )

anyone with good knowledge of cell phone can help and suggest a thing or two ?

That's tough....it depends on what sort of person you are. I
want a phone which will stop a bullet and I like Sony Ericsson
because they are quite solid and they still make phones with
no moving parts. But I think a lot of Japanese people tend to
like things that are a little more flashy. The Aquos 931SH looks
very pretty and it has some very cool functions.....but I imagine
if I tried to use it to open a bottle of beer, the beer would win.

Ok, fair enough.
I guess I want something reasonably light, if possible with touch screen (only if that adds a real +)
I use my phone mainly for calling, playing the occasional app in the train, checking my gmail / gmaps.

for this time, bottle opener and corkscrew not required.

cheap and does what I expect from a Phone

i`ll take i-phone anyday of the week
