I have been out around the streets and see lines of people
waiting to get ther palms read and have their fortunes told
to them... also many people like to check horoscope and
believe in the blood type characters.

Conventional beliefs are the ones which most people share,
but alternative beliefs are usually held by minorities.

Fortune-tellers claim to foresee events and have been known to
offer their services both to famous politicians and members
of royal families. There are many biblical examples of
fortune-telling including premonitions such as Joseph's
dream. Cynics maintain that accurate predictions result from
the laws of probability and do not provide proof of special powers.

What is your opinion of people who say that they can
communicate with spirits? Have you ever taken part in a seance?

Would you ever visit an astrologer for a forecast
of how your life will run in the future?

What does your star sign tell you about your
personality and your compatibility with other people?

Do you believe in other forms of fortune-telling
such as...palm reading? tarot cards?

As you said most results are related to the laws of probability and the power of suggestion. If a person believes something strongly enough they can they can make it appear to be happening in their minds.
Not to say that there are no people with real powers. We all have some form of power. Some of us just have more than others. We just have to keep an open mind. I can enjoy a good palm reading and at the same time believe that it is just entertainment. Our fate changes minute by minute depending on the choices me make.

My personal belief is that they are usually correct with their predictions, but asking for their predictions often comes at a price.
For instance, before my grandmother ever met my grandfather, she went to a fortune teller to see who she would marry. The fortune teller told her that his name would start with "E", but everyone calls him a nickname that starts with "G". The fortune teller was right -- my grandmother married a man named "Eugene" but he went by the name "Gene". However, he turned out to be a harsh father and they divorced years later.
I can't prove the correlation -- it's just my opinion.

As for believing in personalities/compatibilities being determined by astrology -- or blood type, for that matter -- I think it's nonsense.

Often such fortunes influence someones life. If I told you that you were destined to marry someone who was w x y and z, when someone fitting the criteria comes along of course you jump at them.

Personally I think its a load of crap.

Ambrose Bierce said it best in his dictionary:

PALMISTRY
n. The 947th method (according to Mimbleshaw's classification) of obtaining money by false pretences. It consists in "reading character" in the wrinkles made by closing the hand. The pretence is not altogether false; character can really be read very accurately in this way, for the wrinkles in every hand submitted plainly spell the word "dupe." The imposture consists in not reading it aloud.
