I already voted but the idea behind this is just amazing... Great idea.... I had to send it to a few of my friends. They are going to freakout when they see it.

I said:

That is not an apology. You are still trying to justify yourself. An apology goes something like this “I am sorry. I was wrong.”
And

YOU said:

>“Apology accepted. ”
>” Again, stop lecturing about English usage. Your English isn't good enough for it. ”

Ouch…you just proved you have no ability to understand whole contents of the paragraph in front of everyone. Obviously I just showed how to apologize to the people.
Are you sure you don’t need my lecture??

You said my English is not good enough but guess what? Business world prefers the way I speak a lot more than the word “Bullshit” that comes from your mouth. Plus I am a trilingual and you are…ah you are the person who can only speak English and still try to find a way to justify the word ”Bullshit.” Again, you are still talking about brown dirty smelly poop that comes from your butt mixed with food wastes and possibly worms depending on your diet…

>“You're never going to be able to top that! ”

Yeah, here is the difference between you and me. The fact of the matter to me is that
I can get to know the truth and get more knowledge. If I don’t know something, I will ask someone who knows the answer. If I think I am wrong, I will tell you I am wrong. So, I don’t care if I will be top or not as long as I can get the right information. You, however, seem like you care so much about being top on the people. You don’t care even if your answer is not correct as long as you can defend yourself. You will call someone stupid if he/she asks you a silly question. But instead, you can’t ask the silly question to anybody either because you are afraid people think you are stupid. Guess what? You are limiting your sources to get the right information. I feel sorry for you.

>“ You need to work on your people skills for sure.”
>” you are clearly "Damaged Goods!" Maybe actually insane!”

I think the person like you who enjoy insulting others such as posting those MaCain/ Palin pics and call someone else “Damaged GOODS” or “insane” has no heart and should be called “Damaged Goods.” You are so pathetic...
Actually I choose the people to hang out with. Of course I don’t hung out with anyone who treats someone as a thing or goods.

>“We are realistic. Rational.”
>” All the things you are not.”

I don’t see your answer to my simple easy question” what is Barak Obama really going to do after he brings back the troops to the US from Iraq? How can we defend ourselves?”
If you think you are realistic and rational and I am not, you should be able to answer to this question because you voted for him.

>” If you don`t like it ignore it or don`t read it.”

I’ll give you the exact same advise to you. Why can’t you just ignore what I said and try to justify the word “bullshit” or “SHIT”? That’s so silly.

>” I hope you will find a group of people one day that will understand your world views.
But I seriously doubt it. Please don`t bother responding... reading your posts is just a waste of time”

Ha…. You’ve just read my posts and responded to it; I guess my post was worth to read and respond for you? I take it as a compliment.
I don’t know you, but I hate to make fun of the people, so naturally I’m so glad I am not in your world view. I know the pains the people in those situations have, but you don’t. I’ve already learned that you have no heart from all those comments that you left in a past.
*yawn*stumbling here again by mistake*

Oh Gosh, you still at it ?
Election is over ya know ?
Get over it.

and for everyone else : Don't feed the Troll (and that's coming from a connaisseur)

> Newspapers and magazines that endorse a candidate are going to be biased. You are going to tell me that FOX is not biased, or the New York Times is not biased?

You may have skipped the first half of that point (I wouldn't blame you), but the issue is not bias so much as fact-checking. If an anonymous blogger claims that Obama would fail a security check, without further evidence there is little reason to believe (or disbelieve) the claim. Alternately if a well-known newspaper quotes by name three people involved in that field who say he would not, then while the newspaper may indeed have an ideological bias, at the same time one is forced to admit that it is unlikely to have invented the sources, lied about their credentials, or manufactured their quotes.

That's why "newspaper" and "magazine" reporters are more reliable than anonymous bloggers - not because they're less biased (though with few exceptions they are), but because they can be fired for making things up. (Most of them, anyway... not sure about Fox... ウインク )

> It just happens to be that the media has a liberal slant.

That's a pretty rigorously debated claim, to just toss off an unsupported one-line verdict on...

Not that I'm saying we should debate it now. ほっとした顔

> You said my English is not good enough but guess what? Business world prefers the way I speak a lot more than the word “Bullshit” that comes from your mouth.

Should we ever happen to meet in the business world, heavens forfend, I will certainly take that under advisement. Until then, I have T. S. Eliot on my side, which means I'm ahead of you by one Nobel prize for literature. 指でOK

Riffing aside, the fact of the matter is that "bullshit" is an extremely common expletive, considered vulgar but not offensive in casual speech. It's not appropriate for school or church, but can be heard just about anywhere else. Unless the moderator feels differently, I'd say it's perfectly acceptable for a forum like this.

> Plus I am a trilingual and you are…ah you are the person who can only speak English and still try to find a way to justify the word ”Bullshit.”

I speak four languages fluently. On one hand there's no way I can prove that here, but on the other, even if I spoke twelve it wouldn't make me any more right or wrong, so you probably shouldn't have brought it up.

> Yeah, here is the difference between you and me. ... [snip] ... I feel sorry for you.

Ok.
Incidentally, while this thread is still at least partly civil, here's an English fun fact: 指でOK

The "bull" in "bullshit" actually has nothing to do with the animal - at least not originally. "Bull", meaning "nonsense", is actually a very old word that's been around since Middle English. ("Bull" meaning animal is also very old, but it's a different word with a different origin.)

The word "bullshit", however, did not come along until around 1915, and didn't get popular until later,. It's derived from the "nonsense" meaning of "bull", not the animal, although nowadays people assume the reverse.

Now don't say you didn't learn anything from this thread! 牡牛座
Yea I know the reasons why the Pilgrims came to the United States or the New World, to escape religious prejudice but Thanks Giving is still not a religious holiday. I don't know how I can explain this to you any better but seeing as how I live in the United States, and practice Thanksgiving myself I think I would know better than you do. The only thing remotely religious about Thanksgiving is the fact that most families go and give thanks to God for the things they are thankful for. But they are doing that because THAT IS A PART OF THEIR RELIGION,( to give thanks before every meal) and does not make Thanksgiving a religious holiday.

Basically Thanksgiving is Religious to some and just an excuse to gorge themselves on food for others. So, to me, Thanksgiving does not have enough connotation to be a religious holiday like Christmas is considered to be.

It would be more correct to call Thanksgiving a National holiday.

Quote from website : http://www.religionfacts.com/christianity/holidays.htm

"Thanksgiving
Celebrates a shared meal between Christian Pilgrims and Native Americans. It is not a religious holiday, but has an interesting, semi-religious history."

"Although it is rooted in the history of the Pilgrims (who were Christian "Separatists"), the American Thanksgiving is no longer generally considered a religious holiday, but a day to gather with family, eat an astounding amount of food, watch football and parades, and be thankful for the blessings of life."

Please don't try to school me on things I already know and am living, Thank you and good bye.
If we are going to start on Thanks Giving someone might need to start another thread.... it could get long. Some people have problems with that holiday.

“Riffing aside, the fact of the matter is… Now don't say you didn't learn anything from this thread! ”

Yeah, I learned you always think you are right and you still want to justify “Bullshit” to win in this silly debate…When you negotiate in the real business world, real business people don’t use “Bullshit” in a meeting even if they fail to get what they want. If you still don’t know what I am talking about, why don’t you ask CEO of your company about your raise (maybe raise yours to $100,000 more per year?) and say “Bullshit” to him if he doesn’t give it you. Or why don’t you say “Bullshit” to him instead of saying” Good morning”? You’ll see what happens. Oh, maybe since you are working in Japan, you are no longer familiar with real business culture in the US anymore??

>“, I have T. S. Eliot on my side, which means I'm ahead of you by one Nobel prize for literature. ”

Just because someone is expert about writing, it doesn’t mean whatever he writes and says are always right. Roe who claimed her pregnancy was the result of rape and made abortion as legal (Roe v. Wade) is now against the abortion right. Hitler was decorated with the Iron Cross and was supposed to be a hero among the nation that ended up trying to commit a Jewish genocide.
My point is that everyone, even your hero T.S.Eliot, makes a mistake sometime in their lives; nobody is perfect. Just because someone is famous, it doesn’t make their actions right…

>“ That's why "newspaper" and "magazine" reporters are more reliable than anonymous bloggers - not because they're less biased (though with few exceptions they are), but because they can be fired for making things up. (Most of them, anyway... not sure about Fox... ) ”

The beautiful thing about Fox is they show bad side and good side of both parties. For instance, I don’t know if you don’t like Fox without even watching Fox News or not, but if you have watched the conversation that Bill O’Reilly and Shepard Smith had last night on Fox(Nov. 7th), you can’t say Fox is bias; they were talking about the statement that one politician made, “It’s great to have the first black president but don’t know he really can bring his promises” at the day after Obama became a president.
However, ABC, CNN, MSNBC don’t show the bad side of democrats and even try to justify the terrorist who is friend of Obama just like you try to justify “Bullshit.”
Oh, but I admit they know more about Business World than you do since those journalists don’t use the word “Bullshit” on TV. They are sneaky, but not stupid.

I know you want to leave the last words. And yeah I will probably let you do it.
I started to feel like I’m talking to the drag dealer who tries to justify the cocaine as a good vitamin.... But in some point, you should learn that just because you leave the last words, it doesn’t mean your opinion is right. Probably many of the people who were debating with you stopped answering to your comments earlier than you did and let you leave your last words. If that is the case, you can be the one who didn’t gains any knowledge and still believe what you think is always right.

You should come back to this topic about a year later and read the def. of "Bullshit" that you posted again. It will be quite funny.
#165 TokyoOG>

Didn't you say "If you don`t like it ignore it or don`t read it. " and "Deal with it"to me before?
Why don't you take your own advice?
171 Jess>

>“I don't know how I can explain this to you any better but seeing as how I live in the United States, and practice Thanksgiving myself I think I would know better than you do.”

So, are you the person who made the definition of Thanks Giving holiday??
Bottom line is I don’t care what you do and your family do at Thanks Giving day or Christmas day. You may have grown up celebrating these holidays as mere family gatherings. But just because you are in the U.S. longer than I am, it doesn’t mean you are celebrating these holiday with the right reason. It’s like you are calling a dog as a cat because this was the way your parents told you and you still believe it now.

>“Thanksgiving is the fact that most families go and give thanks to God for the things they are thankful for.”

That’s right.

>“to give thanks before every meal) and does not make Thanksgiving a religious holiday.”

You are right on that, too. Most Japanese people say “Itadakimasu” as they thankful for food before they have every meal, but everyday is not Thanks Giving as you say. Religious people pray before they have every meal but everyday is not Thanks Giving day either.

>"Thanksgiving Celebrates….. be thankful for the blessings of life."

Where is this word”blessings of life” come from?
Also, the link you gave me says “People no longer consider it as a religious holiday”
but

#1. it’s not ALL the people who don't think it as a religious holiday
#2 those people no longer think it as a religious holiday forgot the history.

I think the real issue is not about the history but you just don’t like Christianity. Or are you saying you are not going to celebrate Independence Day for Independence Day 10 years from now??
173 なおみん

Stop hyperventilating. I work for a very large american corporation - you've heard of it - and my CEO, who is american, says "bullshit" all the time. Not in press conferences, but in internal meetings, sure. Outside of church and television, the simple fact is that adults use swear words. To be honest, I'd say that business people actually swear a lot more than average. The fact that you don't like it has been duly noted.

> Hitler was decorated with the Iron Cross and was supposed to be a hero among the nation that ended up trying to commit a Jewish genocide.

#175 "Didn't you say "If you don`t like it ignore it or don`t read it. " and "Deal with it"to me before? Why don't you take your own advice? " Maybe because I started this tread ? Or did you forget that? You are perfectly free to start your own tread anytime you want genius. Dam! you are
even more arrogant than I originally thought. Good luck to any man that marries you. Sure rant on for as long as you like. This is a free world. But you are still a very confrontational person that should seek therapy and lots of medication. Answer this ... Why is it that no one in this tread seems to like you ? And you don`t seem to like anyone in this tread? We are all wrong and you are right ? Might be time to reflect on your attitude and personality before it alienates you from the rest of the world. All that said... I still wonder what you look like in a G-String :)
Lighten up Shorty.
Naomin, I don't think you're doing yourself any favours.
From your photo you seem quite young. That's all good
and well but maybe instead of acting like someone who
knows everything about everything you should realise that
a few of the people you are arguing with are very smart
cookies. They might even know a little more than you
on a few things.
You are also not really converting anyone to your view so
I wonder why you are continuing this little war. Could it
be that you enjoy an argument? Anyway, I just think you
are fighting a battle you're not going to win.

#183 ニコール+龍 I hope you are feeling better and that there are no serious problems. Keep your head up. There is no script that determines our fate. Get this through your head right now! There will be "no" dying in poverty for you! No more negative thoughts. I am sure there are lots of people that care about you and will help you get through the rough times. Have a great weekend.
im sorry,, but
did this broad really compare the KKK with Black Panthers!?
are you serious??
i may have no fancy office job but that's sum ignorant bullshyt right ther
Naomin-

Wrong, I'm Christian/Catholic. Thank you very much, for labeling me and putting me in my place.

Look, even though it has ''blessing of life" blah blah blah the fact it it is not a religious holiday but a secular one. People all don't believe in the same things with the world being as big as it is. Someone could take the "blessings of life" and be thanking Aphrodite, Diana or some other goddess/god.

I'm not gonna say anymore cause like TokyoOG mentioned before there's too many controversies over this matter and no need to drag it through the mud.
#180 TokyoOG

>“This is a free world. But you are still a very confrontational person that should seek therapy and lots of medication.”

I don’t think you are wrong and I am right. I am not here to make you like me. I am just telling my opinions here since this is what community in Mixi for. Also “it’s a free world,” too, as you stated. But it’s funny. Just because I don’t agree with your opinion, you treat me as a mental patient. When did I say You were wrong and I was right anyway?

By the way, it’s none of your business whom I married to. Don’t worry you awouldn't be my candidate. I think you should worry about yourself before you worry about someone else.

These are the statements that you made during our conversation. As far as I see thses, looks like you are the one who needs more mentally help than I do.

>“I still wonder what you look like in a G-String :)” #180
>“Dam! you are ” #180

When I just read those again you sound like an elementary kid, too... oh yeah and also the pictures By #136.

>“I still wonder what you look like in a G-String :)”

This statement makes me think you don’t support Abortion because of the Women’s right but you support the abortion right because of the other reasons. I started to see why you are in Japan now.

“instead of acting like someone who
knows everything about everything you should realise that
a few of the people you are arguing with are very smart
cookies.”

…then prove it…
Who decides who is smart and who is not anyway? If I can work for the Embassy, do I meet the qualification to be “smart”? If I work for the big company, can I be "smart"? Or if I know Flash, HTML, C++, C#, and JAVA to make video games, can I meet the qualification to be “smart”(I guess I met its qualification already)? or…

I don’t know your definition to be smart but I don’t think the age matters here. Being older doesn’t make you smarter than someone who is younger than you are.
Even if someone is smart in general, I don’t know if I should follow him; he might be a crazy person, too.
Do you guys, older people, have more experience?-Yes, since you guys are living longer than I am. But the question is what kind of experience you have?
Drag dealers who are selling those drags for years have more experience and more knowledge, and yeah they are smarter than I am about the drag. Those terrorists who made airplane crash into World Trade Center were not stupid. In fact, they were one of the students who were making high grades in school, but I certainly don’t agree with what they think did to America. That’s why, even though someone is very smart, we shouldn’t just listen to them. But instead, we should use our brain and express your thoughts. Personally, I think having morals is more important than being smart.” If someone has both elements, that’s even better.
“From your photo you seem quite young.”
By the way, I take it as a compliment. :-)
#183 Nycole

Getting married with American doesn’t make me to be a American citizen unless I apply to loose my citizenship in Japan. Also, for your future reference, you don’t wanna believe someone:s profile is always true. Some people have a few profiles in Mixi with the faults information. In fact, the profile that you read is only a part of my life. And that profile is a year and half old, too. My job is totally different from the one that I had last time.

I saw your profile, too. If it’s true, I think you are very strong person and I respect you as a woman; you are going to something I’ve never done. I hope you feel much better by then and you can welcome someone special with completely healthy condition next year.
#187

>“People all don't believe in the same things with the world being as big as it is.”

- Of course all the people don’t believe the same thing. You and I are the good example. You don’ believe Thanks Giving as a religious holiday, but I do because of the history like;
Pilgrims came to American to practice Christianity since they were persecuted by Catholics in Europe. When Pilgrims arrived to America, they met Indians and those Indians offered foods to those who just arrived. Pilgrims thanked God for those blessings since those pilgrims believed in God.

As you say, people don’t believe in the same things with the world being as big as it is. They don’t believe it especially if it is something that they don’t wanna believe. You know the history of Thanks Giving but you exclude the story of Pilgrims thanked to God for those blessings. You only believe the other half of the story; Indians were very friendly to Pilgrims and offered them foods.

“Wrong, I'm Christian/Catholic.”

- Good for me to here you are Catholic. I wanted to ask Catholics a question anyway. Why you guys are worshiping and praying to Mary? Bible is very clear that Christians are supposed to worship only to God.
> 191 なおみん
> Why you guys are worshiping and praying to Mary? Bible is very clear that Christians are supposed to worship only to God.

#188 なおみん Ok.. you are right about everything :) Have a great life.
>> …then prove it…

I don't think I need to prove it. You're arguing with everyone.
I think it's safe to assume 1 or 2 of them are a little smarter
than you.
Intelligence is not really the issue, as you have intimated it
is subjective. One of the reasons African Americans consistently
score lower on IQ tests than white Americans is the questions
were written with the white experience in mind.
I think the real issue is you won't concede that people who have
a different view to you are conceivably correct, and in some
cases 2 people can have diametrically opposed views and both
be correct.
For a debate to work you need to listen to and evaluate each
point on its merits. "4 legs good 2 legs bad" doesn't work in a
reasoned debate.

#196 Ian you are wasting your time trying to explain anything to her. If we are lucky she will just go away.
189 なおみん
> Or if I know Flash, HTML, C++, C#, and JAVA ...

I know a thing or two about that stuff myself, and I don't consider any of it to necessarily mean someone is smart... うまい!

More to the point, なおみん, Nobody's saying you should believe us because we're smarter than you. The point is that, if you're not open to the *possibility* that you're wrong, then there's no point in talking at all.

I mean, it's only a couple of pages ago that you quite confidently told me I was wrong because I only speak one language - and where you got that idea is a mystery. When you find yourself premising an argument on a claim like that, is it not worth asking yourself whether your convictions may be stronger than is warranted? And, by extension, whether the other fellow may possibly have a point worth examining?

(Of course, this might go double when you're arguing about how native speakers speak in the business world, and the other fellow is a native speaker from the business world...)
