The gist of the iPhone is not so much the number of features as how all the existing features are easy to access and use. If you read Japanese, there's a very good book that discusses the iPhone and Apple's principle behind it.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that their standards didn't include GSM. My cellphone carrier, Sprint, uses CDMA2000, too, which is why I can't use an iPhone with them. Stinks.
ピーター,
Yeah, there's a way to enable Japanese IME on the iPhone. After all, the iPhone and iPod touch share the same OS, except that the internationalization feature is disabled on the iPhone for whatever reason. I just don't want to resort to jailbreaking.
It will never work. There is no GSM network in Japan. Why would you want an iPhone anyway? There are all kind of cool phones in Japan, way more than we have in the US.
